The 5 second differential is definitely the car. I've been doing track events for a long time. Though I like to think I'm getting better, 5 seconds is just unheard of for improving for anybody more than an intermediate driver.

You'll get there!!! You doing the Pacific Raceways BMW event on Friday? I'll be there. I'll also be doing the Turn2 Ridge event on Sept 3rd.

This car eats the E9x M3s alive. Not even close same driver, same course. I'm 3-6 seconds faster per lap, depending on the track.

Unfortunately I will miss both events.

For BMW event on Aug 12th, too many important meetings that day. I may do Aug 11th Proformance PM lapping instead. I always have less/no meeting on Wednesday or Thursday, so end up doing Proformance events more than BMW club events.

Then I will be out of town the whole Sept. Hope I can catch some events before the season ends in Oct.

I think he's just referring to the capabilities of the oiling and fueling system - E9X is rated for 1.4 G without issue, and the E9X has no issue with fuel, even if it's near empty.

What i wrote is:

"It looks like the regular M3/4 needs the GTS goodies just to be on par with the previous generation M3 in two areas:

I have not said anything about the speed of either car. I'm talking about fuel and oiling capabilities.

On the E92 using almost corded R1 tires I got 1.58g so I know the car will regularly be doing over 1.2.

The fuel thing is a bigger deal as my brother and I track the car back to back

I am going to try to source one. I hope it is the same as the E92, where you access it from a panel under the back seat cushion....

So, do newer build dates have the GTS fuel pickup?

Lol. By kamikaze into the tree line? Nope. You can have that corner.

You'll still be slower.

Experienced this multiple times yesterday at Big willow. Pretty upsetting as it ruined one of my sessions. Every time I was putting power down exiting turn 2 (a long sweeping right hander) the car would hiccup. I was at about 25% fuel as indicated by the gas needle and driving on NT01s.

That is exactly my situation.. fast, high G right hand sweeperer... booooggggg. Even though it is dangerous for me upsetting the car like that at speed, I'm more concerned over people following me in at 100+mph and me behaving as if I just gave them a brake check, with no brake lights...

I agree, it is very dangerous in both senses. This car is so thirsty for gas and gas is so expensive at the tracks that I visit that I usually leave the track to fill up and come back. Now I'm going to either have to leave to fill up more often (so annoying) or pay $7+/a gallon for 91 octane lol.

Larryn, YMB, do you guys have 2015 or 2016 cars? People have said BMW made changes and now the car will deplete a fuel tank without problems

I have a 2015. I believe it comes down to driver skill and mechanical grip of the car. Running R compounds or other stickier tires, especially with a better aftermarket suspension, would generate higher lateral Gs and would make the car more prone for fuel starvation. My friend has a 2016 Comp Package on R compound tires who did not have the same issue but was not carrying as much speed through the sweeper. I'll see if I can give his car a spin next time out with low fuel and see if we get the cut out.

I for one hope it's resolved on later MYs, it would have to be the first mod I would do otherwise :/

I agree with driver skill and mod. You need to be able to push hard enough to create the situation in the first place.
I hope you can use you friend's car with low fuel and see what happens

My mixed feeling here:

I sincerely hope this issue can be resolved.

I know it's bad and it won't happen to me, I can't help hope that I myself would experience this issue as it definitely means that I am so so so freaking fast.

one easy "mod" is frequency of fill up the gas tank... e.g. start with 50% of a tank or more?

I get that's a bit annoying.
