I thought the 911R used the standard body and not the turbo/GT3RS widebody, but I could be mistaken.

Oh good.

Then that would include a lot of markup and already sold out before car comes.

I think besides the sound- the F8x cars are way superior in terms of performance, engineering, build quality, cooling, reliability etc.
It’s definitely a different driving experience vs F8x cars and they sound great.
yes the f80 is superior in all those ways. i think it looks better than the e9x as well. but the f80's problem is that it only is fun at breakneck speeds. when i take it on the backroads its awesome, but around town it feels like a regular 3 series and not very involving. I'll still have my gt3 when i want to go quick and feel some Gs in the corners, and my civic for eating up commuter miles.

If you've got the GT3 for special occasions, the Civic for boring miles, why don't you get something older than from the 2010s? Plenty 90s/00s cars with ITBs, i.e., great engine noise, that are slow enough to be fun to beat the crap out of.

Mind you he is likely in the US and does not have access to ITB E36s. E46 has ITB but it weighs around the same as E92 M3 and with a higher CoG.

Yeah, I heard these will be allocated directly from PCNA/PAG just like the 911R was. Porsche corporate will call YOU and offer you the car. The dealerships won't have anything to do with the process. Some calls have already gone out to a few VIP's.

My Lloyd Designs rear carpeted shelf mat with black piping and white deviated stitching arrived. It's very well made and looks great in the car. It's too bad Lloyd lost the Porsche licensing. I would've loved to have had "PORSCHE" embroidered on the mat.

So... totally out of the blue, my local Porsche dealership emailed me to say that I have a 911 GTS allocation, for early September delivery (at MSRP!)

After nearly 2 years, I had been assuming this would never happen... so now I need to take a crash course in 911 configuration! (and apparently spend the next 3 months staring at an app on my phone wondering when the baby is going to arrive)

Would greatly appreciate any advice on 'must have' and 'don't waste your money' options from others who have recently defected from BMW!

Congrats on your allocation. You're going to receive a huge variance of opinion.

I would suggest fully painted exterior mirrors, BOSE over Burm, the GTS interior package, stick with the base headlight (…unless the GTS comes native with an upgraded option), stick with the 4-way seats unless you're opting for CF buckets (…if it's the latter, pass on aforementioned GTS interior package), pass on RAS, FAL (…unless you reeeeeaaalllly need it), and PDCC, etc. Are you going PDK or manual?

It'll be easier to build one and allow is to pick at it.

P.S. The gloss black package with the gloss black center lock wheels looks really good.

Then it's only logical to try out an E92.

Know what you want, or else you'll have 20 people telling you what you want and need.

And what you really need is the 7-speed manual with the Lightweight package & buckets.

Yeah it would kinda depend on how you are going to go about the car and what the car is going to be used for.

I'd always do LED.

If this car is going to be a daily, buckets will be a bit of a PIA because getting in and out of the car will be a hassle. With all GTS cars, at the very least GTS interior package as well.

Then the rest has to do with your budget honestly.

really no wrong way to spec it. You can build a GTS to be a luxo daily driver with comfy seats, high end audio, sunroof, etc. Or more closely in line to something like a weekend GT car with carbon buckets, ceramics, rear seat delete, carbon buckets, rear steer.

just need to know your intended use.
for resale i probably would check the FAL and LEDs.
skip the awd
skip the ceramics, you can paint the calipers black if it clashes with the paint color.

For me, ceramic brakes and some painted exterior accents are all I need. The full aero kit is a cheap add on to the GTS as well. No need for interior, lighting, or stereo upgrades but that's me.

The car already comes with LED headlights, DRL's, parking lights, tail lights, etc. The only difference between the trims are swivel headlights one level up from base and the smart high beams a'la BMW (…deactivated in the U.S. and no way to code them at this point, so it's pointless to spend the money) on the highest trim option headlight.

Yeah… I built up to 165k without blinking but I been spoiled by PCCBs so, that's the other reason haha.

The rear light option is pretty neat though hehe.

Congrats - that’s awesome.

Spec depends on the exterior color and the everything else follows. I would go Shark Blue, Aerokit, 18ways or Carbon Buckets if you don’t need rear seats, RAS is a must, Full leather interior with deviated stitching. Should be good to go👍

There is a difference. The clear tail lights are alllllmost the same as the Exclusive Design tail lights, but they are different. The ED tail lights have additional lighting elements and LED side gills that light up.

I kinda wish the GT4 had the entire rear light bar light up too instead of it being just for cosmetic purposes.
