Building a s55 m2 comp . VAC motorsports in doing a complete build on the motor including sleeving block bigger pistons and complete 3 stage head . looking to make around 1000 whp 850 fpt.
Need a clutch to hold the power . Only really have 2 choices SSP or Dodson has any body installed either of these and what is your feed back?

I just pulled the trigger and ordered a Deka Stage 2 BMW DCT Clutch, which is rated between 1000-1400 nm to the crank. It doesn't make sense to put a Stage 3 Clutch (1400+ nm rated) into a transmission that's only rated at 700 nm crank. Pressure lines and clamping force can be addressed through software and tuning.

http://dekaclutch.com/index.php?rout...product_id=141

Based in Ukraine, Deka's owner is a machinist by trade, and these clutches are being used in IROZ and Sheepey Race builds. These 2 shops are killing it in their respective areas. Many Deka clutches are also being used in F1x M5/M6s that share the same DCT as the F8x.

And for the price, the Stage 2 also comes with upgraded baskets, which may not be necessary but are beefier than the OEM baskets that are cast welded and may represent a potential weak point if more torque is layered onto the car down the road.

I tried to do as much research on both Dodson and SSP. Talked to everyone from Kris at SSP, Dan who is the Dodson Sales Manager, as well as local performance shops who've installed both versions of SSP, fellow enthusiasts with SSP Spec-X and Spec-R clutches installed on their upgraded turbo F8x's but could not get enough conviction to lean one way or another over Deka. Read the forum discussions, arguments, bickering as well. Nothing was conclusive one way or the other.

I believe I'll be one of the first (if not the 1st) F8x here stateside to run a Deka DCT clutch and will report back once it's in the car and we're up and running.

My DCT trans comes out this week because the flywheel is loose and significant vibration is felt. Car sees 600+ wtq very frequently. And with rolling anti-lag coming out soon for Ecutek-powered cars, it only makes sense to go ahead and do this upgrade.

Our highest power so far we ran on SSP spec R is 1000hp and ~1250 Nm, so far so good.

The upgraded clutch regardless of brand (Dodson, SSP, Deka, etc) I don't worry about, its the trans itself that may become a liability.

I say this based on my own experience and I'm no where near the power and torque levels people are quoting.

How many hours of labor does it take to replace the clutches?

I went with
SPORTSMAN'S PLUS CLUTCH UPGRADE TO SUIT BMW DCT
- 10 plate build
- Quality machined billet baskets
- Patented friction design
- Each clutch is custom hand built to exact tolerances
- Can be used for street, circuit, drag racing and high horsepower cars

Handles power like a champion. No slippage. But very clunky like a Nissan GT-R.

I could not find any information regarding IROZ or SHEPPEY working with DEKA.
Please keep info about shipping time, pictures, results ... good to have more options.

Sheepy also mentioned in a YouTube video awhile back that they changed companies to this new one. They were unhappy with the failure rate of the clutches from the previous company.
