Doesn’t the 5w30 offer more protection and nice performance? What did he have to say about that?

Pick better than LiquiMoly. What's your use case? Daily nanny, daily hard, some track, lotsa track, dragstrip, drifter?

Daily through some track:
Motul Sport Ester 5W40 Synthetic
Oil changes every 5-7K.

Lotsa track, drag or drift:
Motul 300V 5w30 Synthetic Racing Oil
Oil changes every 1.8-2.5K.

TopJimmy,

Do you have the two oil weights backwards?
Did you mean to say that for Daily-some track,
use Motul Sport Ester 5W30 (not 5W40),

and for track use Motul 300V 5W40 (not 5W30)?

No, I meant it that way. Things have changed since that old post. Now the recommendation is:
Daily Driver, short trips, no track, no E-mix=
BMW TPT 0W-30 LL-01 FE (change every 5K miles)

Street racer and/or some track and/or E30-50 mix=
Motul 8100 X-cess gen2 5W-40 LL-01 and Porsche A40! (change every 3-5K, depending on abuse or E use)

More track and/or E60-98 mix=
Motul 300V Power Racing 5W-30 new version, to handle the E (change every 1500-2K for heavy E, and 2-3K for track)

Pure track= 300V changed every couple track weekends. You don’t measure oil life in miles any longer…you measure hours/days.
