Consensus on the best sound for our cars...Equal length plus what exhaust? MPE?

I know everyone's opinion on sound is very personal, but what is the consensus out there for the best sounding setup for our cars. I know everyone loves the AA EL midpipe, and that this helps a ton. Assuming stock cats, using the AA EL mid pipe, what's the best sounding exhaust to put on there? MPE? Akro? Remus?

Can't go wrong with just swapping the midpipe on a stock exhaust. Stock cats -> EL mid -> Stock Muffler. If you want manual valve control, you could add a valve controller. I would do that specific combo before looking at muffler options. Mufflers get expensive and don't significantly alter the tone of your exhaust when compared to a midpipe.

Agreed 100%. This will provide a more economic and significantly more tasteful exhaust note. I picked up one from a forum member and just unplugged my exhaust valves when they were open and I (and my wallet) couldn't be happier with the result.

As much as I see people buying EL midpipes, I see just as many for sale. I still haven't heard one in person.

I have catless downpipes, single mid and Remus axleback. It sounds great but a little raspy on low end. Someone else I know has the same setup with resonated catless downpipes and it sounds really cleaned up.

Been a fan of my EL mid (non resonated) with stock DP and ZCP muffler. Not 100% perfect as there's a little rasp on cold start until things warm up, but compared to other offerings I've listened to, it gets rid of the chainsaw sound that the car had stock.

Here's my top 3.

1. Full akrapovic titanium midpipe and muffler
2. REMUS and AA single or EL midpipe
3. MPE and AA single or EL midpipe

I think the EL is over hyped, underwhelming and somewhat restrictive. Takes the sound character of the s55 almost completely away. It also leaks.

Best bang for you buck for sound, power and flow is a single midpipe regardless of brand, paired with any valved muffler (even stock ZCP/CS muffler) depending on your sound preferences.

Best sounding valved mufflers:
1. Remus
2. Dinan
3. Akra or MPE but have to modify MPE mid to work with single midpipe rear connecting pipes.

I personally have a M3 CS on factory tune, stock DPs, single midpipe and Remus Muffler and it's just perfect! I have catless resonated DPs but haven't felt the need to throw them on yet.

Get a used single MP for fairly cheap compared to EL and see if you want to go to EL or add a muffler from there.

Isn't this rasp city/high pitched metallic sounding?

Best sound for our S55? Easily a single turbo conversion, hands down.

More economically, of course, the Equal Length midpipe with stock pipes really is the perfect package. I have a non-ZCP M4 and love the sound, and think the ZCP muffler sounds just a bit better. MPE sounds too tinny personally, some like it, over a YouTube video it's not my favorite.

This video with the EL and Meistershaft GT axleback tho... very tempting

Full titanium exhausts/pipes use thin walls so the sound resonate bit louder and clear compared to stainless steel. Titanium has a different sound to it. Like a metallic cadence. Sometimes raspy and tinny.

This is why REMUS and AA single produces the deepest growl because its full stainless steel. The walls are bit thicker and tends to tone down the raspiness of the S55 engine bit better.

I think if you have stock downpipes and akra full titanium midpipe and rear muffler then the sound is more clean and exotic sounding. However, MPE and AA single or EL midpipe is more of rasp city.

Is there any midpipe (either single or EL) that will connect to a MPE without modification?

Which midpipe would y'all recommend for a car with VRSF catless downpipes and akra exhaust? I'm looking for deep growl and no rasp. TIA.

Probably AA EL Resonated but you'll need to cut it to make it fit the akra.

akra or evolution racewerks downpipe and AA single

ppl think all catless downpipes sound the same, but this is not true. larger diameter downpipes will result in deeper tone and smaller diameters will result in high pitch note. VRSF is a solid choice. Maybe just add a single AA midpipe and see how it will go. You'd need to cut your akra rear section tho.

I have full Akro and since adding the AAEQ, it's way better. This car sounds like dick in almost all forms. It was horrible with the Akra only. Lol. 7 G's for ear bleeding exhaust:-)

I am on Remus exhaust, AA single pipe mid section and AA catless down pipes. It seems the best balance of sound I have found so far. I took the approach of adding one piece at a time, drive the car then seeing how I like the sound. I started with with AA catless down pipes first. Hope this helps.

I have AA single, stock DP and Comp muffler plus valve controller, which is a must. Car definitely has a deeper and louder sound.

Probably will try out Remus muffler next and then a EQ midpipe.
