Spotify album artwork

I can connect and play Spotify via bluetooth in my 15 but u don't get album artwork, just the generic bluetooth symbol. Should I be getting artwork?

I do in my 16. Do you get it when playing music from other sources?

I have idrive5 and get album cover on the right split scree you have an option for album art or map facing north. I didn't check on my old f82 M, maybe check the split screen? I do remember i got it sometimes on idrive4 but since I didn't really care to research it to be on I don't know how exactly besides I was plugge in via usb. If you code it to idrive5 it will be on the split screen everytime on bluetooth, I kinda like that part its a change of the screen with some art every few minutes!

I dont think so because i am daily driving my wifes 2015 428GC at the moment until the lease ends and when I use Spotify I just get the song name and the bluetooth symbol as well. Now what's strange is when I listen to podcasts via bluetooth I get whatever artwork they have displayed in the 428. In my 2017 M4 I get all the album artwork

Now that I look further, I don't even have a "Spotify" option under the media list. So basically it's just connecting via regular bluetooth streaming. I have BMW Connected Drive app and Spotify installed, what gives? Do I need to update iDrive or something?

For MY16 and earlier the car needs to have been ordered with 6NS otherwise you need to code it to switch from 6NH to 6NS (Enhanced Blue Tooth). MY17+ came with 6NH+ZAC standard and ZAC allows the app/album art.

A couple things:

What are you using in terms of the source music player? Is it your phone? Apple or Android?

For 2015, album artwork seems to only work whether you plug in using USB or bluetooth with an iPhone. I've tried with Android and it doesn't work.
