Do you know if that's written into the vehicle order? Dunno where that value string would be.

All the cars with it are production week beginning Monday 28.05.2018 correct?

Guess what else coincides with that date.
My 2018 F80 has a production date of June 20. I believe it has a steel drive shaft (but not 100% sure on that). It doesn't auto rev match in Sport +.

Don't know what to tell you. The 18' I tested Is a 3/18 Production ZCP and it rev-matches just fine with it's carbon shafts.
You do realize that they have "soft production stop dates" that when minor changes are introduced, they stop the line for the day, make the changes, then resume. This is done so production doesn't stop every 45min when a minor change is made. They save multiple changes and execute them all when time permits. I can't speak for Dingolfing, but that's how they do it at the Leipzig plant.
Just FYI.
3/18 F80 Comp, CF driveshaft, rev-match disablement only via DSC correct? Just want to double check before elaborating on the production sequencing.

I was about to say that's becoming less accurate, but there's yet additional pieces to factor in.

Not fighting at all. Is your shop still on ASAP only or has AOSP been integrated?

Yup, it was sent to my local dealer by BMW for them to sell. Not sure what you mean by "non-modifiable N/C"

The allocation couldn't be modified and as an incentive, the Individual Paint color assigned to the build was at No Cost. The VINs were reserved in March '18 to isolate specific amounts of NA production from RoW destination vehicles between April and EOP (the grouping is 994xx, 995xx, 996xx, etc etc)

ASAP, like the thing you get the FCS codes from? We still use that.

Interesting. Is this common practice for BMW?

I am not a die-hard 6MT fanboy, I loved my DCT F82, but I do feel glad that I don't have rev match in Sport+. Every time I use that mode it somehow feels special in a vaguely nostalgic way.

Still not following the notion that CF vs steel driveshaft would have an affect on rev matching in sport+. What does one have anything to do with the other? It just makes no sense.

Hey while we're on this subject, does anyone else's rev-matching occasionally stop working in the drive modes it's supposed to be working in (Comfort, Sport)? I drove the F80 to work today and rev-matching stopped working in comfort mode. I cycled the key (while driving) and it started working again. This has happened a few times.

No. Mines been flawless.

Question: how do aftermarket companies code out (or code in) rev match? Wouldn't that indicate where to look for the mystery of why some cars rev match in sport + and others don't?

There's got to be some middle age German guy (or gal) somewhere on the planet right now as we speak employed by bmw drinking a beer and eating a schnitzel talking with his buddies about this rev match nonsense. How do we find him?? Or her.

It's a programmed feature in the DME. Because it's a programmed string instead of a coded string, it isn't simply a "switch" that can be turned on or off (or aktiv vs. nicht_aktiv). To the best of my knowledge, the DME doesn't have any variables that can be "coded"; just programmed.

An example:
Coding:
Allow "Close windows with door lock"?
(_) Yes
(X) No

Programming:
If xspeed is = or > than xxx; rpm is > xxx; drive mode = x or x; gear selected is >2 then allow revmatchvariable1
(obviously that's loosely explained).

The problem is, it's difficult to get the tools needed to program the DME with custom information, as well as there being various checksum values that protect against software tampering. That's what is holding me up. I have FCS generators that will work for Navigation, KFAS, and other modules, but not for the DME. Also, please anyone feel free to correct me if wrong. This has just been my understanding so far, and what I've personally run thought.

Okay, so...I've had a bit of a breakthrough. I'm soo excited but don't want to be too excited because I haven't finished with the experiment yet.
I've found the bit of information related to rev-matching on the DME. After hours of time spent between google translate and byteshooter (the program I used to read raw DME data), I've found what I needed...but most importantly...this string of information takes I/O data from the PT-CAN. What this means, is that with a very simple generic module that can emulate a custom PT-CAN signal, and a button, not only can the rev-matching function be manipulated, it can be manipulated with the addition of a button somewhere along the bus.

I'm in the middle of two billion things going on in life, so progress will be regrettably slow here, but I'll be posting updates here.

I bet the Burger Tuning CAN Flap Module can handle this with some additional programing, added benefit is it controls the exhaust valves and active sound already, anyone have a contact with Burger we can reach out to?
