Weird Squealing Noise From Engine Bay

I am experiencing this very high pitched squealing noise coming from the engine bay. It doesn’t come on right away, however i notice it after the car goes into idle and it kinda goes away as i’m driving… any thoughts?

Sounds like it might be the crankcase valve (integrated into the valve cover assembly). When u do hear the noise keep the engine on, pop the hood and loosen the oil fill cap, see if the noise goes away. If yes, u need to replace complete valve cover

If it sounds like the video below, it's the PCV. I replaced my valve cover a few months ago and while a kind of long job it really wasn't difficult. I highly recommend replacing the vent hose (part number 11127850244) while you're there since they can easily crack even when not being moved during the job. I think mine being cracked is why my new valve cover's PCV immediately failed and I had to do the job twice. If you plan on keeping the car long-term definitely get the parts from FCP Euro so you don't have to buy them again the next time it fails.

Depending on miles, vehicle age and geolocation, you may be able to have this covered under warranty. I had mine covered under the CA emissions 7/70 warranty. My PCV went at around 69k.

Thank you!! I just got exactly this squealing noise!! A tech that just did a service on my car thought it was coming from the transmission.

2015 F80 occurred at 61k miles

If its valve cover or pcv pipe, how long can you drive with that condition without causing major damage? Mine just started doing the squealing at 50k....

No set amount of time or miles. A failed PCV valve can cause you to run rich/lean, burn oil, oil leaks, and potential gasket and seal failures. Get it fixed soon.
