Child seat kick mat

Hi everyone,
I'm struggling to find a kick mat that we can fit to the back of our front seats. Has anyone tried to apply a plastic adhesive to the back of the seats (like book cover contact paper) instead of a conventional kick pad?

Will watch this thread. Picked up my F80 on Monday last week and the 3 year old feet are just in the right spot to hit the back of the seat leaving marks.

I was thinking some type of adhesive, vinyl or something but not sure

Take your child's shoes off while riding in the car? It's been a long time since I've had a 3 year old. When my son was young, I used to tell him not to kick the back of the seat. I'm certain it was after he was 3 however. When he was 3 I didn't drive a nice car as I was poor, so I probably didn't care. By time he was 7 or 8 I had an Infiniti I liked and he knew the rules.

+1
My son takes his shoes off before getting in the car.
I've seen what happens when he leaves his shoes on in the X5 even with a kick mat.

No kids, but I'd just vinyl diy wrap/ppf it or no shoes works too.

You think it's bad at 3. My kids are 9 and they like to kick me through the cut outs in the comp seats. I told them if they do keep doing it, they will get sucked into a black hole like their older brother. They say they never had an older brother and I respond, "you don't anymore because he didn't stop kicking me and got sucked into a black hole" lol. Of course they don't believe me.

Might try some clear vinyl 1st like some mentioned and see how that works. I do like those Carbon Inserts I see some M3's have too and in the instructions it says you put 3M tape to make it stick, I assume 3M would be fine to add to the back plastic

I have these on my car, the top loop is big enough to fit over the headrest and overall work fine. Better than my kid kicking the shit outta my seat and scuffing it.

I've been looking in tk the xpel ppf but just don't want to run in to the issue of damaging the plastic when it's time to replace it. Especially the plastic insert in the middle of the seat which might get its top layer stripped off.

Looking at sticking some kick mats which those 3M Velcro picture hangers. Will post a pic when it's done and if it sticks!

Not a big deal, they are kids these little legs and feet touch the back of the seats. I dealt with it in my 991 and my M4. It wipes off!

Sub'd.

Got a newborn on the way and planning ahead. Wife & I talked about this, we're definitely going with the no shoes method and i'll probably PPF the seat backs at some point.

I managed to scratch mine with my watch and as I'm in the middle of trimming all the headliner and pillars with alcantara I thought I'd try this!

I deliberately used really good double sided tape so it be taken off

Wow that looks great! Did you just cut it to size and then tape it on? How does it look close up around the edges?

I actually took the whole seat back off which wasn't as difficult as I thought.

I then cut out an oversized piece and stuck it around the edges at the back.

At the time I used a hair dryer to mould it around the corners but I've since bought a heat gun which is better

For completeness I did the back of the two rear head rests too.

On another thread someone said having the carbon in the centre and alcantara on the sides of the seat back would be the best looking but I have two young kids and I think the carbon wouldn't stay glossy for long![IMG][/IMG]

Thread below has more detail.

I am not cleaning the seat back. And that's all. Btw, last week I witnessed a case of child abuse. The mother was violently hitting the child in the chair and without showing or explaining to him how to sit in it. I can't believe what a world we live in.

The only alcantara that I have to clean once a month is the steering wheel. The seat backs are still fine

I don’t feel a need to cover the back of the seat. The materials are pretty rugged and everything has wiped off. If their feet are real dirty with mud etc, I just take the shoes off.

More concerned about leaving long term marks from child seats back there. I would put that money towards that if you haven’t already.

When I was a kid my mother kept a long wooden cooking spoon in her handbag. I quickly learned not to kick the seat back.
