Groaning steel brakes under light/moderate use?
During some spirited driving, after a couple of slow downs, my front steel brakes give a audible "groaning" sound. Not squeeling. I've experienced this before in other cars when the brakes are being used hard and you are starting to heat things up, but honestly I don't have to drive the car hard at all to start experiencing it. I would say 2-3 slow downs from 80/90 mph down to 30/40 mph in a succession of corners would do it.
I would expect to experience this if I'm hauling down from autobahn speeds repeatedly, but not from driving a couple of corners on a local back road. On a road course, I can't imagine they'd hold up at all. On my other cars, a Cayman S and a Mini JCW, I really have to pound on the brakes for a long time before they start to complain on the street. Visually, the brakes look OK. I bedded/broke them in; car has about 2200 miles on it. Left seems to groan a little more than the right. Pedal feel is good. No fade or noticeable loss of braking performance. Does anyone else experience this groaning under light/moderate spirited driving? |

I hear a groaning too, 600 miles on my car though, I only hear it when aggressively slowing down from 40 to 0

Sure its not the drilled holes passing through the pads causing the noise? Happens on my car after braking heavily a few times. Completely normal. Even more noticeable on cars with slotted rotors.

Same thing here after a track day at COTA (Four 20 minute sessions). It's a VERY loud and annoying groaning noise that hasn't got any better while driving around town the last couple weeks. Brakes are completely stock.
Looks like a trip to the dealer for a new set of rotors and pads, so we will see what they say about it.

Same. No track time yet just some hard canyon runs. The stock non CCBs are garbage. Dressed up garbage. I'm kicking myself for not going CCBs.

it takes some time but it does go away. Patience. I had this happen after one track day as well. It is back to normal now. It was annoying for like 2.5 weeks tho.
