Hmm.... IDK, maybe manufactures shouldn't send preproduction cars.

I don't think it was an outright poor review for the GTS. The whole part about driving on the street was kind of expected and basically exposed how the front lip does not do well over speed bumps.

I know the car is a special BMW and all but I guess it is up to the buyer to determine if the car is special enough to command the premium over the regular M4. If this really is the best BMW and M have then I think Chevy and Ford take the win this generation.

Sure the Cobra and the Camaro do better but with only 300 GTSs going to the states, this car is much more (in terms of collectability) than lap times and how much it costs.

All I'm saying is that 20 years from now when one of these roll across the stage at a Barrett-Jackson Auction, the GTS is sure to bring in more money than a camaro or cobra from the same year.

I still think something is off with this particular GTS.

Only 2 seconds faster than the base M4 does not add up around MRLS. That time difference can almost be entirely attributed to the PSC2 over the PSS. Further, the acceleration times don't really add up considering the extra 68hp and gripper tires over the base M4.

Well, the MSRP of the GTS is 2-3 times that of the camaro and mustang so I would presume you are correct. You could also be wrong if BMW continues to bring out these 'special' models that are basically the GTS called by a different name (DTM Champion).

My argument wasn't really about collectability or which car will be worth more in the future but more about justifying the price premium over the regular M4 from a performance point of view. I don't think the difference in performance/looks justifies it based on the M4 and competitors, but it is just my opinion. BMW could have charged $250k for the GTS and it would still sell but that doesn't instantly justify it. Do you understand yet?

In my opinion, just because it's a limited production car, doesn't mean it's worth the price. I think GTS is way overpriced considering the competition and its capabilities. I don't care if they make 700 or only 7 of these.

This whole GTS versus a Mustang or a Camaro is silly. It's like saying a Zenga suit is as good as what you can get at the Men's Wearhouse. Different price points and levels of quality for different shoppers. Just because it's about the same speed around the track doesn't mean anything.

Sure, I think that applies to the standard M3/4 and the standard Camaro, Corvette, and Mustang. However, once you start making limited production "track ready" vehicles the story changes IMHO. Again, we like to complain and over-analyze the bad things rather than discussing the good/unique aspects of a vehicle. The base chassis just isn't that great on these newer generation BMW's and that's becoming very apparent IMO.

A GT350R will bring more money. One of the last of the dying breed, normally aspirated drivers car with a manual gearbox.

M4 GTS is the beginning of new technologies, turbo power, electric steering, etc. Those will get much better in the coming years.

Even the E92 GTS will bring more money in 20 years than M4 GTS.

Hard to take this guy seriously when he has the rear wing on upside down and backward. That is the way it comes shipped but you need to flip it and reverse it for proper effectiveness. I would assume the time would be a little faster with the wing up and the splitter pulled out all the way as well.

I saw this episode couple week ago during my free month with Motortrend on demand. It hard to take this guy seriously when he spend half of the time complaining about the GTS's ride over speed bump. Seem like there is a lot of hate at BMW from American magazines I'm wondering if BMW cut publicity budget at some point. For a fair review I watch British reviewer. American review just try to praise American car makers.

It's difficult to not compare the GT350R to the M4 GTS, in this case you can also buy two for the price of one.

Both visceral road cars competing in the same segment. Both with carbon wheels and CCB. Etc.

It's more of a direct correlation than you want to believe.

I'd echo pre-production issues too & maybe it doesn't matter if the results aren't any better for the mere fact that there will be people that pay for its rarity. I know for that price, I'm going with a GT3
