I traded my F80 a couple of weeks ago for a new Porsche 718 Cayman S. Figured I can get away with a two-seater as I also have a Jeep Wrangler for my utility sensible vehicle.
Is that a 4 banger?
It is. But that doesn't bother me. I still think it sounds better than the F8X.

That being said I would not put any of them in the same category as my F80. They are just completely different species. I would encourage you to add a P car to your life sometime but do not expect it to replace your Bimmer in any way. I hear the 991 models are more grand touring than the 911's of the past but I have not personally experienced them.
Agree with your take on Boxster/Cayman versus 911. I prefer the size/weight/looks of 981 Boxster/Cayman versus 911. More tossable and more usable power.

Actually considering a C63 S. The fact that they may lose the V8 in 2021 and that the interior is light years beyond the BMW interiors, making me seriously consider a trade.

If I had a place to park a 2nd car in my garage, I's probably go for a Corvette C8.

For years I've always wanted to like the current generation C63s because of the V8 but that exterior styling is just too vanilla. Super round and lacking any character. Even after seeing so many in person and driving one I just can't get myself to love the styling.

Sucks because I love the engine.

I love the look of the coupe but don’t like the sedan at all.

This is what's preventing me currently. I need the sedan but the coupe is damn sexy, definitely not as big of a fan of the sedan. Possible they may restyle it for 2021 too..

For what it's worth my boss drives a 718 Cayman S and I found it to be an absolute delight to drive and to have a FARRRRRR superior suspension than my f80. I was shocked at how much better balanced that car is.

I've also driven a base 718 with the 2.0 liter turbo. That engine sucks. But the 2.5 liter in the cayman S/boxster S is quite good.

I'm currently semi-drooling over the new Cayman 4.0 options coming out. In life sometimes you see something you know you need to experience when it's fresh and new because it's unlikely to come again. A Cayman with a 4.0 liter N/A flat six and a 6 speed manual is one of those things to me.

Same here, GT4 or GTS...but where do I put my kid?! I feel the 992 S will have a little less character and is so expensive...

I would like to get a Alfa Romeo QV honestly. They drive like a dream and I think they look sexy as hell. I have a dealership that's about an hour away that knows their stuff so I wouldn't lose anything there since some of the Alfa Romeo dealership networks are not very good.

Keep the suggestions flowing... I've got one year left on my lease (seems almost like a doomsday countdown).

This made me laugh! I went from an F80 to a 718 Cayman S two years ago, and immediately realized how amazing the Cayman suspension was. Now I just bought an M4 (with EDC) and still own the Cayman. The first time driving them back to back, I remembered what complete garbage the stock M3/M4 suspension is. How can the M4 feel softer and more plush, yet much harsher, looser, crashy, and more jarring- so confused . The Cayman is noticeably stiffer, yet more comfortable and soaks up bumps way better even with the SPASM suspension set to sport (which is very stiff for a stock sports car). Wish I could find a set of coilovers that made the M4 ride like the stock Cayman SPASM suspension - i just don't think that exists.

Agree with both of you on the suspension. I've got Sport PASM, so it's 20mm lower than stock. I find the Cayman soaks up bumps and potholes much better than the F80. You barely hear anything in the cabin. Whereas, in my F80, I would always be gritting my teeth and swearing when hitting those same bumps.

I drive the same route to work every day, and there are some bumps in the road that cannot be avoided. Having experienced the bumps in both the Cayman and F80, Cayman wins hands down. Not even close.
