Another warranty thread - specifically for high(er) mileage F8X
A little context; I'm looking to pick up a M4 (40k-60k miles). For those of you with higher mileage (60k+), how has your ownership experience? I'm just trying to gather information so I can make a decision on whether I want to pay for the occasional (hopefully small) things that might go wrong or drop the 4k for a maxcare warranty. Thanks in advance!!

If I can recall, the maxcare warranty is bumper to bumper with a deductible. So it's like buying a used car with everything covered. Also, this is covered by the BMW Dealership. I think the maxcare warranty is a great deal. DougDemuro made a very good video about his "bumper to bumper" experience on it with his RangeRover/LandRover.

Gotta get it.
These cars are proving to be tanks, but Father Time is undefeated. 4K is relatively cheap insurance (I’m assuming for 3-4 years?) so take it. Much easier to sleep at night and to enjoy the car worry free. |

I've owned my m3 for 70k miles and 5.5 years, so I've been out of warranty for 20k miles/1.5 years.
So far I paid to have my windshield sprayer pump replaced - a few hundred bucks. Might have been my fault for using RainX washer fluid by the way, which apparently encourages algae growth. I have been very pleased with my ownership experience and overall this car has needed for all intents and purposes nothing but basic maintenance. |

I would sell my E92 M3 to CarMax, have them certify it just so I can buy it back With MaxCare. Lol, In short, it's a no brainer. Get the MaxCare, it's legit.
I've had other 3rd party warranties in the past (Mercury Mechanical Breakdown comes to mind) which is garbage and often pushed by credit unions, my deductibles were supposed to be $100, but each visit the bill is like $300-400 due to Mercury not wanting to cover certain basic items in the work order every time. |

When I bought my 04 Audi, MaxCare was underwritten by Assurant. Not sure if thta is the same today. Paid $1800 for a 3/36k maxcare. Paid out 15k in 1.5 years (Audis!).
Check to see if the warranty is transferable, if you get a partial refund if unused and you sell car and if you can pay over time. The bottom line on any warranty is risk. The insurance company has determined (best guess) that x Ms will have less than 4k in coverage over life of warranty. SO on that basis, you should just bank 4k and odds are you will come out ahead. But if something bad comes along (like a bad transmission), can you afford a one time 8k hit?
