First time at the 1/4 mile strip
A good friend of mine and his business partner helped sponsor a track day in Delaware this past Friday and invited me to bring my M4 out to see what's what. I've never even been to the drag races as a spectator so when he asked I hesitated a bit then nervously accepted the offer. Man I'm so glad I did! What a day!
Only 42 cars registered for the event. You could make as many runs as you wanted (I ended up going 7X in the 6 hours we were there). There were all sorts of cars - mostly American muscle. One other Euro (an AMG Merc vert) and my shiny black M4. My friend has a 2011 Cadillac CTS-V with motor work. He runs E85 and pushes maybe 700whp. My M4 is pretty much stock. The only exception to that would be the BMS piggyback stage 1 tune. Oh, and it's a manual. So I wasn't expecting greatness since it was my first time legally racing lol. After a few runs I managed a 12.349 @ 118.62mph on Michelin A/S rears (so much tire spin in 1st, 2nd, and sometimes 3rd omg). All in all not bad considering! I figured out the tree timing quickly but in the heat of GOING, getting the car to hook was the difficult part. I need to improve 60' times and I think she'll sneak into the 11's. A+ experience - would recommend! Here are a couple pics from the day: My best timeslip (me on the left): At the end of the day, I did a ride-along in my friend's CTS-V (took POV video too). This was our slip. Talk about a fun ride holy F!!:

Hopefully someone got a pic of your big smile! I love the dragstrip, it's good safe fun. To launch my manual F80 it needed torque reduction set in BM3 to calm down first and second, otherwise I'd skip tires down the track.
Keep it up!

If I were going to do this more often, I'd also look into some lightweight wheels and drag radials. I'm sure these A/S tires didn't help much.

No, nothing but good old ICE. Loud. Smelly. Awesome gas eating machines.
