I'd by an M6 with CCB's before a GTS any day. I understand they are quite different vehicles with different purposes, but for $130k+ you have a lot of other choices.

Would still be fun to drive though.

Either you are bad at math... (you went overbudget unless the M2 comes in under 50K) or you must be a helluva negotiator!
When you are paying +134k for a car like this, I'm assuming 10-15k more should'nt be an issue, specially if you are getting two cars instead of just one.

To me the much more relevant question is how much more of a superiorly performing car is the M4GTS in comparison to the regular M4? By the time you fully spec a stock M4 with all the factory performance goodies you are easily looking at a price tag of $95,000. For that you get carbon ceramic brakes performance exhaust and led steering wheel and pretty much every single bit of carbon fiber you can add on. So I am curious to know if you have an extra $40,000 left to spend for aftermarket parts would you be able to build an even better car than the M4 GTS? $40,000 buys a lot of suspension, tune, upgraded turbos, camber adjustment, wheels and tires etc

What's your intake (!) on that;-)
This is a crazy comparo! First off, any "after market" bits are money thrown down the drain. Secondly, nothing you can do to a stick "normal" M4 will make it a limited production, factory built car like the GTS.

You buy this car because:
1) you like BMW's more then Porsches,
2) you can afford it,
3) you want something different and special,
4) you want "The" bad ass BMW!

Ask anybody that bought a past GTS or CSL if they would do it again. Heck, ask any of us that got new 1M's. It's not for everyone and that is why I want it!

And as for you Porsche Guys, move to Rennslist and stay out of our forum, please!

You should start by assuming that the buyer of the GTS either:
A) already has the Porsche they want, or
B) they don't want a Porsche!

You would have a different opinion if you ever owned a GTR. None of my friends who bought GTRs kept it for more than 2 oil changes. They said it's simply boring to drive and track, almost overly computer controlled. Lastly, you can't take the car to the track or use launch control w/o risking warranty. And good luck on tire/brake cost to track with a heavy GTR.

BMW actually wants you to take the cars to the track. The GTS would be a blast to track and light enough to not chew through tires.

I'd take a Z06 over a GTR, but not over a GTS.

FYI, we're all being hypothetical for fun. Chances are, all 300 units shipping to the U.S. next year already have a full waiting list. You can't buy one even if you had the money.

I think the sticker is more than fair...especially for a 700 unit WORLD WIDE limited edition.
Dealer markup will be another story. 50k over sticker will make this a 200k car out the door.

Now THAT I'm not sure is worth it.

Edit: Everyone saying they'd rather get a 991 GT3 is ignoring the investment potential of this car. However, with dealer markup if this car approaches anywhere near 200k, there are far more "investment worthy" options.

Pretty much any old Porsche comes to mind. 997 GT3 RS(You can get a very clean very low mileage car for 200k) , 993 Turbo (real clean low mileage ones are 300k, but there are some in low 200s range), Ford GT (although you need more like 250k for this) I'm sure there are others.

The cars I just mentioned are real special. The GT3 with the last of the NA Mezger motor, Potentially last manual GT3 etc.. The 993 Turbo being the last air-cooled 911 turbo.
The Ford GT the modern recreation of the 1960s GT40

However...the buyer of this car may already have everything I just mentioned lol

My dealer refuses to do dealer mark-ups! Plus if ED is available, I'll get that saving too.

Although I dislike the direction BMW took with the F8X Mx, I do not understand what people are complaining about the GTS

BMW goes and builds an extremely limited edition GTS which matches one of the fastest track cars you can buy, the 991 GT3.
The limited edition guarantees incredible resale value in the future and collectability

They price it the same as the GT3, a car with good resale value as well. People are upset?

The E9X GTS was much slower than the GT3 but the same price, so people criticized it.

I really don't get it. This thing is as fast, very exclusive and it's a BMW.

Maybe people have a lot of badge envy and drive BMWs because they can't afford a Porsche. Fortunately, the 700 lucky people that will get this in the US buy BMWs because they want to buy BMWs and prefer to use this at a track than a GT3

At this price I would buy a 2016 Viper ACR and run circles around this M3 GTS and every other factory (non modified) car under $500,000.

Getting a GT3 is easier said than done. Even if you walk into a Porsche dealer with a brief case of cash, there's still no guarantee you'll get one. Also, no one ever buys a base GT3. With the options loaded, you're looking at $160k. You haven't consider the cost of maintaining a GT3. $600 oil change vs free for a BMW. If you have a good relationship with your BMW dealer, they might be able to give you $10k off (if you bought 5+ cars from the same dealer before, you have a chance). This GTS should hold its value very well, as it is extremely rare. For those who missed the opportunity of the GT4, this is the next best option.
My friend just bought a 2013 Borch C4S 7spd w extended warranty to 2019 for 146K, LOL... My other friend smoked him in his cheap gtr. Borch now in shop having lots of maintenance work done. ... Not sure if anyone can get a new GT3 for 150K, unless you getting 2nd hand from a guy who drove it on sunday w only break in miles. LOL...

How would the M4 GTS faire against say a 911 Carrera S or 911 GTS? These might be better comparisons as their base price is a little over $100K and there is no markup/demand issue like with the 911 GT3.

I see three GT3s sitting on a dealer lot next to the six 911 Turbos they haven't sold!

If all of the orders for this car are sold out or spoken for then the car is priced perfectly by BMW. They probably could have charged even more for the car I'm guessing and it would still have been sold out. For me, I agree with everyone - no way I'm buying this if I can get a GT3 for relatively the same money. On the other hand, there is something to be said however about something more rare. I believe this is what most purchasers must be going for.
