Apologize for the delay. It was valve cover/crank case ventilation failure. The following items were replaced by the dealership.

-Cylinder Head Cover
-Gasket-Flange
-Vent Hose

I hope this helps.

The fix is explained above. PCV Valve requires replacing. Which means a new valve cover as the PCV is built into valve cover. Valve is ~$600. And ~$600-$800 in labor. I recommend getting this done at this problem is excessive crank-case pressure.

I had mine done for for less. In fact, I did the valve cover, Charge pipes, and new spark plugs for $1800.

these are the only 3 parts you need. cylinder head cover already comes with the hex screws and cover gasket.

PCV Valve Failure - New Valve Cover DIY Video

This is most definitely a PCV valve failure and I had the same issue with my 2015 M4. Unfortunately, when I had mine fail I couldnt find any videos on how to fix it and looked like dealers were charging around $2k for fixing this issue. I decided to order the new valve cover with PCV valve built into it and installed myself. This fixed the issue and I've been driving for 10 months since the fix and no issues. Here is a link to the video I created so that others can save some money and do this themselves at home. Hope this helps someone out!

I just had this same issue on my 2018 M4 Competition. I fixed it by modifying one of those $20 PCV repair kits on Amazon. More details of how I did it found here.

The PCV valve issue started occurring for me last week (I am out of warranty). I took it into my dealer service department yesterday letting them know that that this *should be* covered under FEW (essentially telling them not asking them) and they confirmed that it was. Repair was done by this morning, quote "we replaced the entire cylinder head cover due to the ruptured vent valve." No charge...

I am running into the same issue on my 2017 f80. What is FEW by the way? I tried looking for answers, but couldn't find one.
Also, it your car modded?

Factory extended warranty, I'm guessing.
