Wrapped the roof - some issues

Sure I'm going to piss off some of the faithful here...but let me just state that for one, outside of the manual trans - a sunroof is #2 on my list of must haves.

I prefer to have a lit up interior and typically pop the sunroof, even on the coldest days of winter. I use this every day I drive...where the car will only see a drag strip 3 or 4 times in it's lifespan (don't autocross / don't road track).

It took a long time to find this car, and obtaining this included a plane ride with a nice drive home. No need to tell me I settled for something...

That being, I do like the look of the CF roofs, and for $65, it was worth giving a shot of wrapping the roof. I've done some major wraps on cars before, so this was not my first go. From that, I chose Vvivid's XPO Gloss CF wrap and set to work on the most humid day possible.

Typical prep - remove the rails, remove the shark fin, clay, degrease, and rubbing alcohol to prep the surface.

So, here's the issue I ran into. This morning while fitting the wrapped shark fin, I saw that the one edge looked like it had water under it.

Realize, it's just a sticker...it does not have water, but no idea how this just came up. If you look at the driver side above that was taken yesterday - it's not there.

It looks like I may have 'over stretched' this area, and it is on an edge...but I really can't recall doing so. I'm not sure how to go about fixing...

For this reason alone, if I cannot resolve, I may switch to all black.

Looks great. Honestly I wish I had a sunroof most days.

Maybe it was overheated during application?

How does it look in person compared to real CF? And was it hard to remove the shark fin?

I wish I had more/any advice but wanted to drop in and say great job on the application there. I've tried vinyl wrapping a few things over the year and it's awfully hard.

You did great, a M4 with sunroof was my favorite one, but no one matches the rest of my desires so a F83 has to come up.
Those moisture is indeed coming from overstretching the wrap, Idk what kind of wrap you had chosen, looks like 1080hp or Dinoc CA-421, but this is one of the lacks using rough structured wrap. I had chosen e.g. 6D CF wrap w/o any structure but shiny underneath CF look, this one is more resistant against stretching a bit over the edge.
Nevertheless, all in all clean job.

So...call me crazy. Went out at lunch time, which this is the first time it sat in the sun since doing. Looks like it's about 90% gone??? Maybe something with the glue? This is the first large piece I've none with Vvivid. Interested to see how it will look in my garage when I get home.

Did you peel off the protective clear layer after installing?

I don't think you over stretched. I've wrapped 2 roofs with vivid and if you did over stretch, the film will pull back drastically after spending time in the sun.

That clear film pretty much peeled as I was laying it out on the roof. I assume I was to remove it before starting

I think it's odd that it didn't show after work was done, showed the next day, and now seems to be going away after sitting in the sun. I was actually using this as a test go on possibly wrapping my Audi. Not sure if I'm ready for that just yet...

I echo the others comments - Well done!

For what it's worth, I don't think anything is wrong with wanting a sunroof and am still 50/50 even though I don't have one.

I was going to do a CF wrap on my sunroof F80, but everyone knows the CF never has a sunroof so I passed. I may do just a high gloss black. Yours does look good.

It's just moisture under the wrap. It should evaporate.
