My M3 will be departing on April 9th with Fedora. ETA to Oxnard April 29 and to me first week of May when hopefully the new lease rates will be better.

All good

I hope I'm not hijacking this thread but I'm looking for some opinions on my situation....

I ordered an M3 on 3/11, my CA gave me a production # and then a week later confirmed an allocation for week 17. I as told at the time of my order that they get 2 allocations a month and mine was for April and I'd be able to take delivery in May so everything seemed to be on par.

Yesterday, a customer rep at BMWUSA told me my car was now scheduled for week 21, I asked why the change and they said to talk to my CA.

I called the CA, he says I'm still scheduled for week 17, not to believe the customer rep........BUT he said BMW makes changes to the schedule that the dealers have no control over.

My car is still status 111....several others on here who were also scheduled for week 17 reported that they have already entered production.

Did I get bumped by the dealer? I asked him that question, he says no.

If I am getting bumped to May who is more likely responsible, the dealer or BMW?

Should I be patient for a week or 2 and see how this plays out? Or should I look for another dealer with a current open allocation?

Am I being too impatient and jumping to conclusions or is this just how it goes with the F8X?

Thanks

From everything that I've read - this would be the factory bumping your production week - with your dealer having absolutely no involvement (or ability to change) that decision.

This was happening to a lot of people last year (supposedly because of shortages of certain parts or options - I believe 19" wheels or CF were some examples). So unfortunately - this does seem to be part of the F8x process...

In my opinion - stick with your original order - you have it configured exactly the way you want it - better waiting an extra 4 weeks for the exact configuration that you want instead of "settling" for a dealer-spec'd car that you're not 100% satisfied with (and worse yet - when you see another car the way you originally ordered it - you'll probably wish that you had waited the extra 4 weeks).

I ordered mine in late April last year and didn't take delivery until first week of September. It was a very long and tough wait - but I never would have been happy with just buying a dealer-configured one off the lot...

SAME EXACT THING happened to me.....Are you doing ED?
Im doing ED with Individual, was told to pick couple days week 21 to do ED, called 800# from 3/11 till last week, system had a request for week 17, now they saying week 21, with no confirmed production date still.
im thinking maybe the car will still be build on week 17 and they saying week 21 cause I am to do my ED on week 21?

No, I'm not doing ED....I wasn't too happy yesterday, but after having a day to digest it I've prepared myself for having to wait. I was originally hoping to take delivery in May, but its looking like June now. Not the end of the world, but an inconvenience....plus I was locked in at the higher residual #s until end of May...looks like I should re-lock in April if something doesn't change in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the reply...yea, I guess I have to calm down and go with the flow....just seems a little strange that others who were in the same build week as me with similar builds got pulled ahead, and I'm pushed back...oh well

For the sake of the thread, I ordered mine on 12/20/14, got the production number prior to xmas. It is now sitting at the port since 3/25, no shipping details yet, so it hasn't been put on a boat yet. Driving me crazy.

I'm thinking of putting in an ED order for pickup in 2nd week of June. CA assured me this can be done. That's really the only week that I can travel during the summer. Now this is making me doubt that what if it gets bumped a week from June, am I screwed since I can't travel until December?

Do you have a strong relationship with your dealer and/or are they a known euro delivery specialist?

One other possible explanation is that the dealer is playing games and didn't actually have an allocation.

When I put in my euro delivery order in early December I got the reservation letter with my pick up date of March 31 about 3 days after placing the order and putting in credit card info for a deposit. The pick up date was 100% locked and didn't change. (I did have a very simple order with no individual options, and I didn't make any changes to the order).

Have you actually gotten your reservation letter? If not, you may want to ask some questions to your sales person about what is really going to

I worked with Greg Poland at Pacific BMW in LA and it was a great transaction. I would highly recommend him.

I have not placed the order yet. Looking to do it tomorrow. I'll ask them more about the details and the letter. I was told they do have allocation for a car in the first week of June so should not be a problem. I'll make sure to confirm everything.

The options on my AW M4 are CF roof, DCT, M suspension, HK, and black 19s. Thanks again.
