H,

Check out this Ariel Atom they just tracked at VIR. I think it was right after we left.

Turbocharged Atom 3S. Do these laps look faster than ours were there at VIR?? Fun to see this car lap the same track

http://carbuzz.com/news/2014/10/14/A...r-90K-7723119/

I saw the TMI Tech building when I took a wrong turn into the Tech center there in VIR. They had the Atom Experience signs up at their facility. Never realized their HQ was right there.

Were you DSC on, on the skid pad?

I'm surprised on the one hand you were impressed with the immense power but on the other hand found it hard to break loose?

Awesome write up. This definitely makes me want to do it although I'm going to wait until the one in SoCal is finished.

Great write up man! It was an enjoyable read and the descriptions were so good that I almost felt like I was there.

Jealous of the experience and time you had. I too will do one of the M classes when the Southern California school opens up. Thanks again!

Very nice writeup.

I remember talking to someone at BMW who said these type of driving events sell their cars. The guy I talked to said that students have like a 80% probability on buying a new ///M within twelve months of doing one of these schools.

this is one of the best posts I have ever seen, really enjoyed reading it!

I only have one issue.. Your Jersey haha. When you make the switch from your F10 to a F80 also switch the jersey to Real Madrid.

What an intensive write up. Very informative. Did they let you turn off all the nanny gadgets i.e. Traction control, DSC ?

Great story and pictures, thanks for sharing!
Does someone knows if this ///M Advance driving school is open to everyone, I mean for foreigners like me, or just US customers?

Also, what is the total cost of an experience like this, and what is included?
That's one of my dreams to travel to VIR for an ///M school weekend

The sound is much more high pitched (screechy at times if you will) than with the E90 and that makes it sound more like a track/race car to me. It clearly does not have the sound of a muscle car. Here is a video of a drive-by of the ///M3 at around 130mph.

I have to partially disagree with the sound of the M4 vs the E9X M3. Sound taste is pretty subjective, but I definitely believe the sound of the S65 is higher pitch than the S55.

Below is a clip of Leh Keen's personal E92 M3. For those of you who don't know who he is, he placed 3rd in this year's TUDOR United Sports Car Championship in the GT Daytona class.

You can hear the car really wail down the straight at 0:23 at a much higher pitch than the M4, and I don't think it sounds like a muscle car at all. Again, whether you like the high pitch wail of an high redline NA engine is completely subjective, but it's definitely my cup of tea.

The whole clip is an awesome watch. It's cool to see a pro behind the wheel of our cars, especially one that is passing 911 cup cars on the track with a pretty much stock drivetrain.

Sound preference is definitely subjective. I much prefer the sound stock vs stock of the new F82.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed post! I was especially happy to hear how it compared to M school in Greenville. It sounds like you had an awesome experience.

I live just 1.5 hours from VIR. I definitely need to make the drive for one of the BMW CCA events.

Really nice write-up - thanks for taking the time. Can you say a little more about your view of the need for the 2 Day School before taking the Advanced M School? Do you think it was necessary to have attended the 2 Day School first? Could you have gone directly to the Advanced M School and gotten the "full experience?" I have been cleared from the Advanced M School, but I have not taken the 2 Day M School. Thanks.

Have you ever driven on track before with instruction? If not, I'd say do the 2 day school first to get the basics down before the Advanced M course.

If you have some solid prior track experience you would probably be ok to do the Advanced M School and get the most out of it. I suspect if you have no experience on the track in a high performance vehicle with proper instruction that you probably won't get the full enjoyment out of it and the level of learning might not be as high without the solid foundation.

I've done both 2 day and 2 day advanced as well as a private one on one day with an M instructor. All awesome. You'll love it. Good luck!
