Don’t be surprised if you end up recharging after 150mi or so if you are also doing pulls and lots of other wide open throttle driving, since full power uses up 1000+ wh/mi. (Ie 20 min session at Sonoma used about 35% of battery for me)

Do you still have time to cancel your order?

I honestly think from everything you posted (fast commuting on highways , likes 60-130 pulls, doesn’t have own level 2 charger, single car) you’re pushing a boulder uphill and should stick with a gas car (aka buy a cheapo 2015 m3 and put your mods back on it)

We got two chargers in my apartment now so I dont think it should be much of an issue. I can technically charge every night. Im still waiting to see what the charging costs are as the building said they will be making their own pricing but the company they bought the charger from Blink wants 39 cents per 1 kwh which is insane. Cost at the plug here is .07 kwh.

I have 15 days from when I get the car to return it per Tesla but there isnt another car im interested in.

$0.39/kWh negates a lot of the EV savings. It’s like a 40mpg car, where if should be more like a 250mpg car if you pay $0.07/kWh

My $0.07 would be for you to get a turbo Porsche modded to trap 135+ in the 1/4 mile (aka an old Mezger car with 700hp kit)

Yeah thats about $35 to fill a model 3 performance to 90%. Way to much https://www.blinkcharging.com/ev-charging-fee

I cant figure out how to make it take the highway but it looks like 10% to get to work and back per day. https://abetterrouteplanner.com/?pla...e-12779ad5debf

Id love a Porsche turbo BUT THAT SOUNDS EXPENSIVE and id probably kill myself..

Don’t forget the power you use from lower ambient temps (ie heating the battery and the cabin) which can account for 1-2 kw per hour

996 turbo is a $45k used car these days and the upgrade paths are well know. Your f8x and mods cost way more (unless you get an epic work discount)

Well, props to you for taking the EV plunge. You are diving right in with a model 3P. Really hope you’re happy with it. I’m surprised it’s taking you a while to get one. I thought it should be a 2 weeks wait from when you put down money but maybe that’s just in CA

Damn dont give up on me guys lol. As long as the money makes sense I'm sticking with my decision. I've never owned a used car and I'm not in the time of my life where I plan to. I like the idea of a 4 door even though I only use it to slide my mountain bike in the back seat and trunk. It's only 3 years 😜

It's taking so long becuase the last 2 months have been dedicated to building and shipping of cars in Europe and Asia . They will start building us cars again next week .

Tesla is a soulless, point a to point b car. I'd rather not own a car and Uber around when needed

One of my coworker just bought a Tesla Model 3 2 months ago. The interior is quit boring, the seat have a vegan leather (ie. Polyurethane or vinyle ) , the big screen in the middle is the only way to access all the features of the cars. So if you want to adjust the temperature you need to click 3 or 4 times and you must look at the screen, this quit distracting and very dangerous while driving. The roof is made of glass, but is not possible to have a sunroof. No spare tire and no runflat either. For the daily driving the night charge seems to be ok but only for 30 miles commute. The owner must plan ahead all his trips, he will need to install a 2000$ charger at home, so he looks quit stressed about it, especially during winter when the charge drops quickly...

Nah, never rode in one either, so I'm being a bit ignorant. The look of those cars is a big turn off, its like a Saturn, cheap gm crap. Super boring and nothing I'd ever be interested in driving. I just don't get the hype.

Is there a way to test drive one without knowing someone who owns it?

Just call your local store - they’re available to drive.

If you don’t have a store in your area try Turo or posting on Tesla Motors Club.

Thanks, I was just confused because I can buy the car online, thus eliminating the dealer network bs. I do have a "store" 20 mins away located in the largest shopping mall this side of the Mississippi.

I want to get a feel of the acceleration before the release of the Roadster with its 10,000 Nm of torque

Don’t drive it unless you’re prepared to want to buy one! 😉

Do feel free to test drive one and be fully prepared to not buy it.

That was my experience. Cool car, but way too feminine, among other things I didn't like. The Model X in black I could probably live with though, maybe as a family hauler.

I'm sure it's different outside of California, but here every housewife in OC has one. It's common to see 8-12 Teslas on a 20 minute highway drive here. Roughly 75% of those will be model 3s. Outside of CA I am totally confident that it's different and there's s more of a cool/wow factor when you see one on the road.

You guys aren't lying! I went to my local store on Black Friday to check out the cars and hopefully get to drive an M3P. Sure enough, the rep said they had one in inventory to test drive so he handed me the "key", showed me how to adjust my mirrors and steering wheel, showed me how to engage autopilot and told me to be back in 30 minutes

I was very impressed with it! Stupid acceleration that never gets old The car was a lot of fun... steering was a bit artificial but felt direct and nicely weighted in sport. I love the standard regen. Would miss my heated steering wheel, though. The seats were really comfortable, too. I'm not vegan but I like that they don't use leather (feels nice and looks like leather). Plus, I found there's no sales tax on EVs purchased in NJ which is nice! If I had a place to charge I'd seriouslyyyyyy consider getting one; and I'm a manual + RWD guy! Nothing will touch it on the street at reasonable speeds.

100% agree there are a lot of model 3 in CA and the P version blends right in. (I like that a lot of my daily)

On that note, does anyone care other than the owner if it’s an m3 or 911 in CA?

from my experience getting zero attention in all these cars, those are the wrong cars for attention seekers in SF or LA (granted, my F80 was AW, my 911 is seal grey, not a PTS car and my model 3P is black and debadged with stock wheels).
