BMW Service Left Coolant Tank Uncapped - LOW COOLANT ERROR
Took car in for oil change. Apparently the techs left the coolant cap off and it splashed out. Within the next 30 miles iDrive brought up a low coolant warning and I got it brought back in within about 10 miles of the warning being on.
Besides coolant being everywhere under the hood - they said there is no damage since CEL did not come on. Topped it off with coolant and went on the way. Anything to be concerned about? Last edited by lovethem4; 06-03-2019 at 06:05 PM.. |

I would make sure that is all documented in the computer and that you have a print out for your own records in case something comes up in the future. Probably would be hard to tie it back to this event but it would make me feel a little better about it at least.

car is probably fine if the temps stayed good
my dealer did the same thing. except with the oil. As soon as the low oil light came on i pulled over, shut everything off, and froze in 20 degree weather until AAA finally came and towed it to the dealer. scraping my car as they pulled it up of course had them do a compression check and they comped the next oil change and cleaned the underbody of oil. .. then sold it a few months later for an f80
