Question for you guys, the MPE exhaust is made out of titanium however the midpipe isn't, where as if you get the full system from Akra, the both midpipe and exhaust is made out of titanium? Can someone please confirm this? And wouldn't this make a difference in the type of sound as well as how loud it is?

I have had both, MPE and Arka and I loved the sound of the MPE I hated the fact that it cracked. I have an Arka EVO just haven't installed it yet so I can't comment on the sound.
Akra mid pipes are not titanium, just the rear section similar to the MPE. |

I’m pretty sure the Akrapovic is full titanium. Even the midpipes.

Hey,
You are comparing, maybe not, apples to oranges but, still a 2nd cousin, pears maybe. * "Akrapovic Evo." = full Ti. whereas http://www.akrapovic.com/#!/car/prod...71&yearId=5053 * "MPE" is only Ti. axle-back/muffler. There are differences in materials (costs) and craftsmanship (quality & aesthetics). * The Akra is a work of art! That, once installed, no one will see. And, * The Akra is, at least 30% more expensive than the MPE. There are different types of Mod's. It all depends on your priorities (needs Vs. wants) & cash flow. * A.) Look Good/Feel Good (ego) Mod's. * B.) Protection (keeper/lease?) * C.) Performance (warranty?) The Akra straddles the line between "A." & "C.". IMO, if you want the looks and the bragging rights (The sound is there, either way.), get the Akra slip on (axle-back/muffler) mated to "Active Autowerke's" mid pipes. Cheers! |

common enough to see it happen to quite a few forum members but there are no concrete numbers on what percentage or how many people actually suffered from the cracking issue (since we have no idea how may exhaust systems BMW has sold). it's random as of this point as some have gotten cracks early on and some have used their exhausts for a while without any cracking. could either be a design issue (thin gauge titanium side wall), manufacturing issue, or both. who knows.
peace of mind: buy it from an authorized seller or at the very least, get it installed at the dealership. i personally bought mine second hand (though new with sealed installation parts) and had it installed at the dealership with the service receipt to show for it. stupid expensive but worth it. one of my exhaust valves were stuck open and needed replacement. got it fully covered under warranty.

MPE.
Akra rear section only in underwhelming. To get the good sounding Akra, you need the full exhaust which is much more expensive and makes the car non-compliant emissions wise as it removes the secondary cats, and it does not sound much better than the MPE.
