New Tires, what did you do?
Folks,
My M3 needs a new set of tires. I have narrowed down to buying PS4S's. I can get these at Costco (cheapest) or dealer or some online vendor. What did you guys do? Any pro hacks or contacts in NJ? Thanks! |

go to Costco, plus free mount, balance, rotation and nationwide road hazard warranty. I plan on ordering my set from their.. lead time may vary up to 2 to 3 weeks as they do not carry the 19's and 20's in their stock @ the warehouses. Good luck.

Costco is great until your wheel gets scratched and then all hell breaks loose. Tape your outer edges with Blue Tape.

PS4S for sure, but order from TireRack and find an installer who (1) has all Hunter equipment including and especially road-force balancer and (2) has employees who actually understand how to use the Hunter equipment including and emphatically the road-force balancer.
TireRack will ship to your house or directly to the installer you specify. sadly though, TireRack's list of recommended installers is NOT reliable. don't use it. |

I've had 2 nails in my rear tires in a year. Would Costco replace the tire or fix the puncture?

They would see the severity of the puncture and determine the outcome. Most likely they would replace the tire. Nobody would use two plugs on a tire, I don't think it's safe after the 1st plug. 2nd plug is a risk as is. Then again long as it's not on the sidewalk you should be okay.

regarding what to do with a punctured tire it's important to remember we're talking about y and z rated tires on many of these cars, certainly on M-Cars. my own view is that a plug , regardless of its location, renders the tire's structural integrity no longer predictable especially relative to its speed rating. sadly, considering what these tires cost, for me a repaired tire is only useful during the time it takes for its replacement to arrive.
attached here is an excerpt from an article on the TireRack site. for those suspicious of commercial bias there are myriad other articles available on Google that say pretty much the same. |

Yeah, the rears weren't available, but they could be special ordered. I went with the dealership as the car was lying there anyway. The difference was around $250. Got a bit lazy.

Great experiences with both...
AZP Installs (NJ) - Great pricing, can most likely price match, and top of line equipment Espo's (Staten island) - Mainly for m/b if you already have the tires. Also top of the line equipment |
