This was the initial startup vid and the resonators have started to break in more and it's gotten even better...after driving the car for the past couple days, there is absolutely no rasp...no fart or negative noise from this setup. I might try taking some driveby videos later. The AA Midpipe with a couple resonators added are perfect imo.

My inner-child got the best of me and did a small stationary rev this eve before I headed back home
and an N54 335is (M performance exhaust) by comparison and a comparison of a stock ZCP, ZCP w/ single mid-pipe (secondard cat delete), and then a CS with equal-length exhaust pipes Last edited by spool twice; 11-22-2019 at 01:16 PM.. |

Sorry, no updates. This morning I'll have more. Too many things going on yesterday so I didn't have any free time.

Here is another option. Not cheap but one that I will entertain.

Very cool! Definitely the best approach as it seems to tackle to issue on the front end vs the back end that we are all currently doing.
1 week update from me. The sound character has gotten better, not sure if its the glass-packing in the muffler adjusting to the differences in sound waves and pulses? or just the pipes getting coated with soot and eliminating certain sounds. At either rate, I wish I did this mod sooner, it makes driving the car more enjoyable now that it sounds "right" to me. Hard to describe and capture on video, it sounds quieter and louder at the same time? The sound coming out of the exhaust is "richer and fuller," like there is a wider-range of frequencies (not the same one-dimensional tinny note), yet its balanced and smooth at the same time, without going too much louder than stock on the volume. Driving between buildings and revving it between 4,000-5,000rpm and hearing it reverb back to my ears with the windows down, the sound is so smooth but raw at the same time, literally the exhaust sounds like "raaaaaaaahh" It may not be everyone's cup of tea since sound is subjective, but certainly does not sound like an S55 anymore.

Hopefully I can get V2 of my exhaust done by next week. In a strange coincidence, I may have an opportunity to sell my car, in which case the exhaust may be for sale. I can also arrange to have a custom diffuser made based on the stock unit but with driver's side plugged and entire unit painted BSM. Can't tell you how badly I want to give an update about V2 but still working out scheduling install.

I wish I could, I don't have the means and my source who can fabricate this to the masses is knee deep in projects.

Add a new backbox/muffler like yourself and it goes to a whole new level.

I've been asked not to share pricing. Since we are iterating on my exhaust, the price wouldn't be the same as you going to him for a quote after he already knows what he's doing anyways. Also, another important thing - what you personally want won't be exactly the same as what I or anybody else want, so different parts and labor are involved. It makes more sense to talk to Mitch directly about what you're looking for so he can give you an accurate estimate. But what I can say, is that if you scoff at the insane prices of all these high end systems like Akra, MPE, Remus, etc. like I do, you will be pleasantly surprised by the quote he gives you for a fully custom system that actually fixes the tone . It's a fair price, and it's catered to you. I got an update from him yesterday. My car goes in for V2 fab next week, so I should have the car back for the weekend. If you want, PM me your number, and we can meet in person so you can hear V2 before committing to a fab date with him. We could also meet to hear V1, but honestly, it's about as loud as stock with valves closed, so I don't think most people are interested in that anyways. Up to you. |

Hey check this out. Just saw this on the NorthTexasBimmer page on facebook. Its a very unique looking design so I thought I'd share. Full custom setup. Hopefully this can spark some ideas in here. Good luck all.

There will be more videos to follow, but I did a small 3 second clip of the exhaust just cruising near 5,000rpm. It's hard for my mic to capture because again it becomes saturated and distorted with other sounds due to the location of the mic (near exhaust)
Was happy I was able to capture the exhaust the way I did at light throttle (less volume for the mic to distort), because thats the sound that is heard in person. I'll try to get someone to cruise next to my rear bumper to capture the sound better this weekend. |

I like the location of the crossover pipe(ala Porsche style), let's hope they had some sense and equalized the pipe length given the amount of space they have now, otherwise it's going to sound like any other S55 exhaust note thats not equalized.
