1200 mile break in service
So time for this 1200miles service. What should it include? Any experience with dealership messes to look out for?

It's going to be the standardized first oil & filter change along with the drain & refill of the differential fluid, and lastly the enabling of the launch control feature. I'm sure on the GTS models the distilled water gets topped off as well if I'm not mistaken.

Does the break in unlock more power , or just launch control. I bought one with 250 miles and have only put another 100 on it over the last month. I likely will not hit 1200 miles until next summer earliest as it will be stored during cold moths. It doesn't seem that much more powerful than my m4 comp package car so I was wondering if it was dialed down on power during break in. Everything else about the car is 150% of the comp package car but overall power feels like 105%. Not complaining!!!!! Just curious.

Fluids have all been changed according to time. But it hasn't been coded to allow launch control. My question was wether the car was held back on power until 1200 mile service. I think that was answered. Thanks for the responses.

As far as acceleration feel, this is a pretty good comparison if you haven't seen it. I wouldn't guess the GTS feels substantially faster. Probably a few mph gain on your typical track straightaway.

Thank you for your response FormulaMMM.
It may have been the same car. The previous owner actually took it up and got service done recently, just before I bought it. I had my dealer run a report to check history before purchasing it and then look over it once I got it, when I took it to them to get inspection done in MD. Just had it out tonight and still feels like it's not pulling as hard as expected. Might be that chassis is sooo much more confident than my previous M4 comp.making it feel that way. Love this car though!!! I am not sure how long it will take for me to take to the track but probably not this summer. Please don't fault me for that. I know that's what it's designed for but just too new to me right now. |

Check to see that your injection pump is working correctly. If it's not using water, it's got the same HP as a standard M4. Many people have had the issue. A simple way is to put the display on the HP gauge and mash the gas. If it does not peak over 500HP on the gauge, then you have water injection issues. Also, have your dealer double check that the suspension blocks were removed during the initial dealer prep. A lot of GTS's still have those blocks installed on the struts. Pat's car had 1800 miles on it when he bought it, and he thought it was just a really stiff suspension on the drive back to VA with it, but the local dealer discovered the shipping blocks were still in...now it rides better than his M2, and his sensitive ass prefers the ride of the M4 GTS now.
