MY20 order - discount percentage?

So upon reviewing a few threads, it seems March is the last month to do a factory order on a M4. What have people been getting recently?

Based on some posted threads, I see 13% off MSRP as typical. Which makes me think this month one could shoot for 15% off MSRP?

Thank you!

Chances are that unless you've already secured an allocation, you aren't going to be ordering anything at this point. You're also HIGHLY unlikely to get 13% to 15% off on an ordered car at this point either.

Dealers are probably not in any rush to unload any M4's, at least with any significant discounts with the G8X M4 still far from arriving. $1,000 over invoice seems like a deal the dealership would take right away without much negotiating.

Thanks everybody for your responses! Yeah it seems very unlikely to have a new build that is not a heritage edition.

Any thoughts on discounts on heritage models... guessing we would need to wait a bit for any discounts... I’m about to be in the market for a 2018+ M3/M4 and was thinking of going CPO, but if I can get a 13% discount on a 2020 M4 ZCP (don’t need it to be heritage but it would be nice), I may go the new route

I'm assuming you can get a couple of percentage points off on a Heritage edition. They have not been flying off of the shelves.

Regarding non-heritage, yeah you can get some discounts for on lot items.

what kind of discounts are dealers willing to do on a lease 2020 M4 for stuff on the lot? If they deal heavily on the selling price, I would think you could get the monthly payment down pretty low.

what % off MSRP, or how close to invoice can you realistically get them to go? I wonder if cars are now sitting and moving a LOT slower b/c of COVID-19 and they might be anxious to deal?

Oh, absolutely. If you are talking about a car in their inventory sitting on the lot, you can deal VERY aggressively. I would ask for 15% off MSRP

I mean I would happily take a Heritage M4 for ~$60K (I've seen a bunch of LSB and IR around the US)... trying to be somewhat 'responsible' and sell my IR ZCP E46 first though.

Take a moment, breathe, reread the comment. I was joking that if they sold it for $60 I would happily take it..... it was in response to the comment above mine saying 25% off MSRP....

Anyone out there buying a new M4? What discounts pre-incentives are you seeing? My local dealer is only doing 5% which seems crazy considering they’ve sat on their 2 M4’s for months now.

I agree with you, that would be way too low of a discount for me to act on it.

However, from a business standpoint, right now dealers are not incentivized to move any vehicles off the lot at steep discounts due to a decrease in supply.

Think about this...
Dealers have furloughed a large percentage of their workforce, which is also accounts for the most costly part of the dealer business. Also, with supply being all but nonexistent, the dealers are more than likely sitting on them and seeing if anyone is desperate enough for a car to pick it up close to retail. In addition, as soon as their is an ease in restrictions, some people will be buying cars again. But the supply will not have caught up due to build and shipping time.

Therefore, from a business standpoint, unless there is a serious cash flow issue, it's wise for dealers to sit on these stock, especially with BMW NA helping to offset some of that cost.

Yeah, that makes sense.. I do see a lot of M4 supply out there though, so not sure if the demand will match come easing of restrictions (especially since the depth and magnitude of businesses and workers impacted will get worse before it gets better)... I guess we'll see!

Just picked one up this weekend:

MSRP 85
Invoice 79
Sale price: 77

2020 M4 Mineral white, full silver stone leather, competition, executive, DCT. Sat in the showroom for nearly a year and they didn’t argue. They also paid off my current lease with turn in fee!

It sat for a year because of the silverstone leather.
