Definitely a gotta-have-it-mod for the 6MT crowd. Once installed, you'll wonder why you waited so long.

Of the mods I've done on my car, this is probably my second favorite so far, the first being my audio upgrade. Just one more Ultimate Clutch Pedal, and then you're done. You swear |

Hello Everyone,
Thank you all for the nice words and for pointing out installation issues you may have encountered when installing the UCP in a newer car. I have added an addendum to the instructions noting differences between the install in a 135 & E90/E92 M3 (when the instruction were written) vs. the F30/32 & F80/82 (most installs today). Sorry for any confusion. If you have any issues with the installation, you can message me on Facebook under "Ultimate Clutch Pedal". You can also email me directly at ralph.warren "at" cox "dot" net. Feel free to "Like" us on Facebook... Ultimate Clutch Pedal. Be sure to include a picture of your car so we can add it to our web site "Member's Gallery". Sincerely, -Ralph Warren (UCP) |

Hi Ralph, nice of you to drop a line here. Thanks for making such an awesome product
BTW, I think I'm past my 'honeymoon' period with this thing, and I still feel the same way: It's great! Quote:

I've always been wary of mods like these. In theory it sounds awesome and I'm sure it is, but things like this have always created problems down the road for me. For example putting pressure on the master cylinder while not being depressed and prematurely wearing out the clutch.

If that is the case, then it is simply a case of FUD.

Please expand on your experience that included "premature wear on the clutch". Although, a number of other factors can lead to premature wear of anything, I was hoping you would expand on the details of your statement. For example, was it a BMW clutch you replaced with a UCP that resulted in the clutch wear? Or was it some fly by night aftermarket clutch for an old Scion TC? These details matter. A lot of claims with no specific information get made on the forums; and some times these statements get perpetuated like a game of telephone which ultimately tarnishes a product for no reason at all. The reason why I'm asking you to expand on your statement is because there is indeed a plausible engineering basis for what you claim. However, the number of positive reviews for this product seem to indicate that any "extra pressure" on the master cylinder might be an installation error or defective product. I'm not trying to roast you; I just want to know the details of your experience. BTW, my Ultimate Clutch Pedal is at home. I'm waiting for a free day to do the install. So I'll be checking this thread regularly. |

Having done the install myself, I don't see how the UCP would put any extra pressure on the master cylinder, as it sits in the exact same position as OEM in relation to the master cylinder pin. It's simply the geometry of the physical pedal itself that accounts for any differences.
Also, I understand everybody's not going to like it, and the difference is not night/day from OEM. I just found it very much to my liking, with minimal to no risks or tradeoffs. |
