See Yellow Wires Under Door Speakers

I just got a 2018 M4 convertible yesterday, clean car fax, got from BMW dealer.

When I am sitting down in the driver seat and look at the corner speaker in the doors, I can see two yellow wires coming up from the door frame into the bottom of the speaker.

Is this normal ?

The car is still under factory warranty so if it is not normal I could get fixed.

From what I can see the speakers are sitting flush with the door panel so the speakers don't look like they can go lower to cover the yellow wiring I can see, just seems strange to be able to see this.

same on my F82 2018

Here's a shot of my passenger door with two wires showing. Bought it 2 months ago, missed it on initial car check, but it does bug me if this can be easily fixed?

I think the dealer can fix these issues. If not a car stereo installer.

Definitely shouldn't have that much of a gap along the bottom of the speaker trim.

Had a similar issue after getting windows tinted. The piece holding the tweeter is easy to misalign when reinstalling into the door trim. I popped it out, made sure wires were properly routed through the foam channels, then put the trim back in place and pushed firmly to make sure everything was properly seated.

How did you pop out and realign ?

My gaps under the tweeters are not bad but I think they are not completely sitting on the door panel trim, prob could be pushed down more

That's a video of taking off the door panel. Do you know if the entire lower panel HAS to come off for me to realign the tweeters ?

I hope not

It's been a while since I fixed the alignment, but IIRC a gentle pull will pop them out. Definitely didn't have to take the entire door panel off.

There should be some youtube videos that show it.

ETA: I looked real quick and couldn't find the guide/video I used, but can't really look hard to find it at the moment. I for sure didn't take the lower panels off. Pretty sure that's only necessary if actually changing out the speakers and need access to the connector.

Looks like this video at 5:58 time shows removal technique for this speaker. Will try it this weekend.

The dealer said yesterday that the wires coming through the bottom of the tweeter is normal and my seeing them like that is normal. I mentioned how I didn't see the wires on my M235i and they said those wires didn't come up through the bottom.

I don't know if I believe the dealer.

That dealer is FOS. I'll try to remember to take a picture of mine in the morning. Absolutely cannot see the wires since adjusting the trim pieces and ensuring proper routing of the wires and seating of the trim.

I have some trim tools so I was thinking about prying up the tweeter trim then remove and reset so it sits flush with the door trim so I don't see anymore wires.

Ok, got some pics for you to compare - showing driver and passenger, and zoomed in on driver side from same height (or slightly below) level of where you see the wires.

From what I remember, the foam backing that surrounds the speaker has a groove that the wires are supposed to tuck into, which hides them away and keeps them from getting caught in the trim and/or preventing fully seated position of the trim.

Thank you for the pics. My car has been at the dealer for two days so when I get it back I will take off the tweeters and try and fix myself.

No problem. The severe OCD side of me could never live with seeing that, so happy to help others fix it. From what I recall, it really isn't hard to feel your way around removing the tweeter trim. Just take your time and be gentle with it and it kind of guides you into finding the best / least resistant position.
