AWD only accelerates better, but does not help in cornering or braking and 4-season tires are suboptimal in real winter conditions like we have here. I’ll have a set of performance winter tires on dedicated wheels for the winter, just as I’ve had on all my cars .

Yes, the RS6 is still in the works for my wife. She got a May production allocation confirmed back in February, however we were told in early May that it would get delayed to the fall due to the chip shortage. Although a bit disappointed, we were not completely unhappy, separating the delivery of the 2 new cars lets us enjoy each more thoroughly

Crazy to see someone use their two M4s as designed (daily / track) and then upgrading/picking the next best thing for the same dual purpose job. Road trips + kids + work + track.

Beautiful cars - I love the LRG CS (favorite out of the factory combo for the M4) but I'd be more than ok ditching that car for a 992...

Healthy debates where we get to learn from each other is what makes this forum such a great place. The M4cs was one great car and was really stunning . I’ll miss it for sure. Dual use is exactly what got me into the turbo, I love the concept of one car that does it all, but I do realize I’ll lose some practicality with the 911. The track review will come sooner than later, I am instructing at a HPDE event this weekend: delivery on Friday, track it on Saturday/Sunday

Out of curiosity, Porsche 911s don't need to be broken in first? (Like the "until 1200 mi don't rev it past 5k" break in recommendation from BMW M).

You could just take delivery and drive it straight to the track and start beating on it? No break in service required?

There's no break-in service required. They do recommend keeping the revs lower and not keeping them constant for the first couple of 1000miles. However, my SA told me that engineers at Porsche told him you can drive it as you stole it right from the get go . Porsches are built tough.

But I will be gentle with it on track, I'll short shift and wont aim for lap records on the first outing.

Hearty congrats on the new car. Thanks for all the helpful info over the years, most of which I have gleaned from lurking and reading your posts. We all know why you didn't op for the ceramic brakes.
