Dead Battery jumped then smells like plastic?

My M4 has been sitting in my garage for months. Had to jump start the car and was driving it and red lights came on saying battery was not recharging itself. Also, very bad plastic smell coming from battery. I turned the car off.

Is the battery shot? Or can I purchase a charger and charge it???

How many months? One or two might be okay. More than that and the battery may have degraded. You can try using a charger but it sounds like the battery is shot especially since its giving off fumes(not common). Technically, the battery is suppose to cut itself off when its voltage is very low and save its life but something isnt right if its giving off bad fumes...

Next time, disconnect the battery for long term storage.

Did you jump it from the engine bay posts or the battery itself? Jumping the battery can fry the IBS.
