A similarly equipped RS5 Sportback is going to be over 80k, and you would have to wait approximately another two years from now before you can actually drive one home.
Have to wonder if their is going to be an RS5 sportback (i've been looking, can't find confirmation except for Car and Driver, but with no source?) . I'd love to see one, as would some fellow Audi goers. I don't think the RS5 coupe starts selling till late this year. If they are going to make a sportback, wonder when it would be announced and if the US gets it.
Its confirmed to be revealed at Frankfurt auto show in September/october and the RS4 Avant will be revealed along with the New Audi A8 in july at an audi event.

I have a deposit down with Audi for either the RS3 or RS5 and it looks like late summer/early fall for RS3.

I'm considering the rs3 when the lease is up in a year on my 335. I'll want to drive the 340 next year prior to committing one way or the other.

Drive the 340 first, else you'll be ruined!

I can't go back to the standard 3-series any more . . . they're just too "soft", for lack of a better word.

Hopefully, the M340i will make the standard 3 series fun again.

I agree. Even with MPPSK, track handling & adaptive suspension it's missing the it factor. Fast car no doubt but I'm going with RS or real Ms from now on.

So now that the US configurator is up what does everyone think of the new RS3?

Looks like a decently equipped one is right at $60k. A lot journalists praise the engine for loads of power and sound. It's a good $15-20k cheaper than a competition F80. Maybe I should rethink my '18 competition F80 purchase?

Drivetribe video on RS3. Henry Catchpole seems to have enjoyed it, even though the video is not really a technical review. I actually like that Viper(?) Green...

Back seats are pretty tight, so keep that in mind. With markup that most dealers want first year I bet the price of the RS3 is close to F80.
I'd rather wait for RS4 as the chassis is much newer and it's in the same class as M3.

There's a 0% chance for an RS4 sedan, and a 0% chance the RS4 Avant will come stateside. RS5 Sportback is the car you'd be waiting for.

As an M3 and S3 owner, I must say that these two cars are not even comparable. Do you want something quick, AWD and automatic with understated styling? Get the S3/RS3. Do you want a very fast RWD car with the option of a manual? Get the M3. Go and test drive both before you make your decision. I could elaborate on this but IMO the BMW is the far superior car.

I agree that the M3 is likely the superior car but I don't think you can lump in the S3 with the RS3, considering the RS has 108 more hp than the S3 and a lot of tweaking above what the S3 has.

It also sounds like the chassis on the RS3 is a huge improvement over the last gen RS3, which was always its biggest downfall. I'm betting the new RS3 will be more capable than the M2 but will fall slightly short of the M3/4 as far as performance goes.

It looks like you're correct. I had to read up on the latest RS4/5 news as I wasn't following them lately.

RS5 sportback looks good, and if that's the closest thing we're going to get to RS4 in US, then I'm not even mad.

that's because people on here paying 5k for the right to buy a colour off audi

never quite understood why people mix and match brand colours

back on topic, updated rs3 seems to have lost the crackle on downshift from 8V sportback that made the drive/sound so intoxicating and garnered memories of group b stringing corners together - i'm sure the aftermarket tuners will bring it back

I'm really torn between the M550i and RS3 as my next ride. I can go completely gentleman with the M550i or completely hooligan with the RS3. Common denominator is 4WD. Based on reviews it seems like one can't go wrong either way!

Depends on whether you want a boat or not.

The appeal of the RS3 for me is the smaller size.

Then again, I wound up with a heavier car than the M3 anyway, heh.

Why is there still a 0% chance on the RS4 coming back?

You think that because of this article?

my f80 zcp on ps4s with mpe is about as good as i rekon this platform is going to get.......but why i am still missing my old 2016 RS3 even though i know it has a far inferior chassis, suspension, seats, tech, widebody, interior ambiance (no full leather dash/doors in any audi this side of an A8)

that 5 banger love is real
