M4 European Delivery

Do M cars come out of dealer's allocations when doing ED? For those who did M3 ED, did you pay ED MSRP or ED Invoice?

the e9xM came out of US allocations for us dealers when customers did ED. We are hoping that this go around with the F8xM that BMW reverts back to earlier strategy and ED orders do not come out of US allocations. If that is the case then you should be able to get some killer deals on ED orders like we use to offer in the past. If BMW makes dealers take F8xM ED orders out of US allocations it will be tough to get ED orders below ED MSRP if not impossible.

ED = European Delivery for those who didn't know

IIRC... The F10 M5 did not come out of dealers allocations when first introduced. However, shortly after that, they did.

If they are not out of the dealer allocation there will be some great deals and I will grab one and take delivery the first day too.

On the first day the M5 was available for ED pick up, 24 were picked up;

There was a period of time back in 09 that the M3 did not come out of allocation. A couple years later though, BMW changed the policy on M cars altogether, and made dealers provide their own allocation for ED.

Please let us know what you find out as the release gets closer.

I was under the impression that they were not coming out of dealer allocations.

My wife hasn't been to Europe yet, so we were hoping for a double-win on the ED and MSRP discount.

Thanks,
Mike

^^David is looking into this every day and rest assure as soon as we know either him or I will def post it up!

I plan on doing ED on my personal M4 as soon as it comes available. I believe David is going to as well. I think it would be cool if there was a huge group of buyers who picked up their M's the same day like when the f10M5 was released.

What was the estimated savings on earlier EDs that did not come out of US allocs (E46 M3?)?

In 2010 for 2011 M3's my car was not part of the dealer allocation. I made the ED PO in November, took advantage of the Winter cash and picked up the middle of March 2011.

US MSRP: 68,200 and I think I paid 59,400 or something like that on a 2011 E90 M3 ZCP

I am looking to get back into an F80 M3 May of 2015.

+1. Monitoring this as my lease is up in July. Fire Orange e90 M3 anyone? European Delivery indicated to me that the initial allocation of 4 Series will come out of dealer stock.

I'm assuming the same policy will apply to the M. Either way I'm going to Munich to pick up with GOLFFRR. The more the merrier. Lets top the recent 13,000 hp gathering of the F10 M5 at the Welt!!

Well I'll definitely be doing another ED. Will you be able to have it shipped to my dealer or will I need to pick it up at the Performance Center? I took PCD after ED on the M3 and while it was a great experience, I don't think I'd do it again. You can PM more about it as I couldnt find that info on your website.

Awesome. Maybe you and GOLFFRR should build an ED contact list for future info distribution. Include me on it!

Yeah, it would make sense, especially initially given their recent history with the new F chassis cars.

You are buying from the dealer not the factory. I've done multiple EDs and as far as I understand BMW can export the car as a used car when you do ED which brings down their costs and some of the savings find it's way to the dealer and on to the buyer. The dealers profit is likely the same or larger than an on the lot car. Since it's often on top their usual allocation they can also make more money in a shorter time on hot cars since their total possible volume goes up with ED cars.
