First Comparison Look at BMW M4 versus Lexus RC F
BIMMERPOST NEWS First Comparison Look at BMW M4 versus Lexus RC-F One of the BMW M4 Coupe's biggest rivals in 2014 will be the upcoming Lexus RC-F Coupe, the first official photos of which have just been revealed. While BMW has downsized the M3/M4 engine from the predecessor V8 to a bi-turbo inline 6 cylinder (425 HP / 406 LB-FT), Lexus has retained a V8 for the RC-F. The engine is said to be a higher power version of the 5 liter V8 from the IS-F, but outputting 480 HP @ 7300 RPM (up from 416 HP in IS-F). Torque specs will be announced at Detroit. It's believed that the transmission will be an 8 Speed Sport Direct Shift Transmission. Full details of the RC-F will be released next week at its 2014 Detroit NAIAS reveal, where the F80 M3 and F82 M4 will also be making their debuts. We will update this comparo with a full specs comparison next week. Follow our BMW M4 news/features @ http://www.bimmerpost.com/m4/ |

RCF looks pretty sleek, but it looks like the C pillar will have a huge blindspot.

What an ugly snout on the RC-F
"Predator" face. The hind quarters and wheel arches are very nice though, better than the M4 on those pics. |

Wow that Lexus is ugly. Lines are really busy and doesn't flow.
Only thing I like Lexus over M4 is aggressive rear fender and front panel brake vent. |

New Lexus have looked so weird lately, definitely not a fan. That interior is nice though, very LFAish

The profile of the Lexus looks good, but man that front end is trying hard to be right in your face.

It retains the V8 .... While I am a true BMW enthusiast I applaud Lexus on that. Good news, consumers have more different options now, the front of that Lexus is not my cup of tea though. Let's see how these cars and the RS and AMG will do against each other.

Dont like the interior (center console looks flat, boring, and cheap) and the exterior looks like it is trying too hard. No thank you!

So it has begun.
This car will no doubt be vastly improved over the predecessor (the IS-F I mean - it remains to be seen if Lexus will continue to offer a F sedan now that they have a coupe to base the performance model on). My biggest curiosity right now is how high that engine revs. Ford currently has the darling 5L V8 due to the 7500RPM redline achieved by the now out-of-production Roadrunner engine. We don't know what they have in store yet for the successor. If Lexus can jump in with something close to 8000 RPM, I will be forced to put this car on my watch-list even though I have real reservations about driving an ostentatious Japanese sports coupe around the greater Detroit area. Pokémon styling be damned. |

Sigh, why does it seem so difficult for some companies to design a good looking car? Holy smokes that's ugly, I like their blue color though. Seriously I'm thrilled to see that the competition sharpens and offer alternative technology and not just poor copies of BMWs. If they just could ask someone with at least an ounce of taste to design the cars, you hear that Caddy and Toyota, get some help already and we're ready to come over.

I wonder how long it'll take for the Lexus grill to widen and become like Audi!?
Toyota is known to copy people. Still ugly to me.
