*** bootmod3 *** New Feature Release - Map Configuration options for ALL maps

Hey guys, we've pushed out a new release Friday enabling end users to configure map configuration settings not just for OTS maps but all maps including stock as well as custom maps

This has been requested in the past for people that would like to create for example a Stock Tune with just CEL, VMAX and burble overrides and run with that during winter months for example. In some cases people wanted to try customizing burble themselves using the config screen on their own maps as well as custom tunes they've worked on in the past which is now a possibility as well.

Original map settings are always kept in tact as well so you can go back to them if needed.

Version 0.10.039 of the system is already up on the Web at www.bootmod3.net. iOS and Android app updates are on the way out and should be available very soon as well.

In the attached screenshots we're showing a sample stock map with the config button and options on it.

Have a great rest of your Sunday, all the best

This release was clutch for the No Fly Zone event yesterday. I didn't mind the early Friday evening maintenance window at all.

Thank you!

If i ran this stock tune simply because i want to remove all burbles and lets say i'm that unlucky and spin my crank hub bolt..... If Bmw were to dive into my DME will they be able to see the car has been flashed?

I guess is this actually my stock file or is it a "stock-like" file that the car will be running...

Thanks,
Alan

I believe you have to unlock your stock file and then this is the copy with any config changes. In the event of spinning your crank or dealer visits you would still have to flash back to stock and lock.

But then if you had gone stage 1 or 2 then they could see that the turbos were running a higher boost, for example, but if you ran the stock settings you should be ok as the won't be able to see the over boost etc. Thats the way I understand it anyway...

Hate to sidetrack onto warranty issues. But the dealership/BMW has the onus to prove that boost caused the crank hub bolt issues, if they would even pull the file to review boost at the time of failure. At this point we don't know what causes crank bolt issues. Countless people have been running high boost without failure. Dinan tuned cars offers factory warranty with increased boost. Most failures are on completely stock engines. We have 700hp engines pulling 180mph test runs without crank hub bolt issues.

Actually, they don't have to prove anything. Anyhow, let's keep this on topic please. Yay for more BM3 customization!

Does the app (for iOS or Android - I have an iPhone though) need to be updated in order for this new feature to work before flashing the car? I updated the OBD Agent on my laptop and my WiFi agent to the new firmware posted above and I was able to change the configuration on my stock map and the OEM maps (the CS one specifically) ..

I did not flash them to my car yet. I just made the changes and downloaded them to be flashed later....

Quick question on the cold start..

I take it that 'off' completely removes it and when the car starts it will just idle where it normally would after warmed up (750rpm?).

Am I also correct in saying that if you leave cold start on and just adjust the rpm's to where ever you'd like, say 900rpm, it still acts normally but just at less rpm's (goes down once cats are heated).

Hope that makes sense..

You're correct. Cold start is more than a high idle, without going too far into it it's essentially designed to heat up the cats very quickly by sending a flame down into the exhaust which is why the engine sounds very different during this period.

Cold Start On w/ Custom RPM - Exactly how it sounds, your car goes through the cold start cycle but at a lower initial RPM

Cold Start Off - Your car starts up as if it was already warm. I have my valves always open so I have cold start off for the sake of my neighbors and it's great. My garage opens to a U shaped little area with all my neighbors garages so it echoes like crazy.

I do have an issue when I first start the car up with cold start off, it sort of stumbles for the first 5-10 seconds if I try to drive off right away but I haven't been bothered enough by it to open a support ticket yet. I will soon just to get it fully ironed out.

Quick question which I’m sure has been acknowledged before but need to ask.

If currently running jb4 on map 2 (Injen evolution intake, downpipes, charge pipes) would one be able to flash the stock tune for the gts roar, burble and cel delete and simply keep the Jb4 on map 2?

Or am I better off JB4 map4 and flash stage 2 bootmod?
The reason why I have not wanted to flash stage 2 bootmod for 93 is because sometimes I will pump 5 gallons of e85 occasionally.

Thanks!
