I was in Garching earlier this week and saw this same car as well as what I think was the M6 prototype. Wasn't able to get close enough to either for sound unfortunately.

Not loving the sound but I am certain BMW won't disappoint when production comes around. Loving the body, hope it is more aggressive than e92. Damn zebra paint ruins my idea of how it'll look! >

I think it sounds AWESOME. Like a 911 Turbo with an exhaust. Of course the S65 sounds better, but I won't mind that exhaust note at all, especially if the car is lighter/looks better.

I love the experts in this thread who will never buy a BMW again based on a 66 second video showing a prototype mule

All I got to say is that a V6 in a BMW is sacrilege.

Don't give up on the I6 BMW. That's what makes you you.

(Although the B5 S4 with a 2.7T is pretty bad ass its still an Audi )

That was the exact sound I was thinking. Absolutely right and spot on. You really know your cars. Bravo.

Sounds amazing??? You've got to be kidding! Sounds a little throaty, but didn't sound like the car got over 3k RPM. More to come no doubt, but this was only a bit of a tease in the sound department.

Thumbs up

I'm sitting here thinking about how much my 335 will be worth when I trade it in, and what 450/450 would be like... and then I realize, if I get my hands on a turbocharged M3, there's no way that I will not be able to mod it... This car is going to be a monster once it gets tuned... no matter what BMW puts out stock!

Honestly, who cares if it is a T^3I6, T^3V6, TTV6, TTV8 or whatever they come up with... As long as it kick ass and is reliable!

Looks good, I'm sure the V6 will meet or exceed the performance of the V8, just as the V8 in the M5 lives up to the V10 of previous generation.

Also nice Evoque, they just came out in Europe, that one still has a German temporary tag on it!

Engines that exhaust through turbochargers are never going to sound the same as a non forced induction engine. This is because the engine exhaust pulses are directed into a chamber to turn the turbo.

Having said that, never give up on BMW or the aftermarket.

Here is a secret.... They are using sound projectors (aka external speakers) to make it sound like that.

I look forward to the outcome of what will be! His voice is not bad, but I hope will be the Tri-turbo I6 engine and no V6!

I've got an e21 320 I6 as my second car. In the low rpm range sounds nearly identical to the noise in the video. So I think what we hear in the video could well be an I6 engine. Hopefully.
