Again, I'm not making any money from this process (selling these at cost), so spending $400 x 16 splitters to have them painted only to have people decide they aren't interested isn't something I'm really looking to do. The finished product will be identical in size to the OEM splitter, and will be 60%+ cheaper than the piece made by Fall Line (<$200 vs. $474). A good body shop local to you should have no issue painting it Acid Orange after I ship it to you, and I would strongly recommend that route if you would like to have it painted. |

I'm ok with giving up my spot too, I apologize, but the finished product is not what I was thinking it would be. I dont want to leave you hanging though if you cant fill my spot I will still buy the splitter.

Agreed, if anyone wants my spot they can have it but I’ll also buy if need be. I’d recommend if you do this again to go with black as the orange just looks odd.

Would certainly make the entire process easier on my end - it was a massive pain sourcing 0.375" orange plastic and obviously frustrating when the color was so off. Acid orange isn't really orange - more of a metallic brass/copper. |

Machine shop finished up with the counterboring and overall cleaning up of the parts.
Final price will be $195/ea + shipping - I have a bulk shipping discount so shouldn't be too much (shipping dimensions are 60" x 15" x 1" and 5 lbs). In response to the splitter material not being a great color match, I took it upon myself to see if I could get a closer match by painting. A more in-depth painting guide with photos will follow, but with $18 of supplies from Advance Auto, 30 minutes of my Sunday afternoon, and some household materials (120 grit sandpaper, 70% rubbing alcohol), I was able to get a pretty good result. This is after 2 out of 3 coats of paint and without any clearcoat (the color is almost an exact match, but the OEM part is glossier because it has clearcoat on it). For those still interested, please post here or PM me with your zip code and I can give you a total price. |

Can we get close ups of the edges and the texture? I dont mind having a body shop paint it to match, but want a smooth finish like OEM. From the pics, I'm not seeing a smooth finish
Thanks!

It is possible to flame finish the surface to remove the cutting textures from all sides, but it's just me in my backyard/garage, so I have no industrial finishing capabilities. Also, the splitter is going to get scraped up (the entire point of making it from UHMWPE) and will have an uneven surface at that point regardless. I will update with a how-to post once the paint has dried enough to apply clearcoat. |

First post updated with an order status list. If your name is not on the list and should be (or vice versa), please let me know.
All splitters are ready to ship out - please PM me with a zip for final quote including shipping. For those looking for updates on my painted splitter, today was too cold (45F) and humid (80%+) to clear coat the painted variant. I anticipate tomorrow will be better, and can provide finished photos and the DIY guide then. Last edited by 4play; 12-07-2020 at 08:01 PM.. |

Giving up my spot as I was looking for a smooth finish/texture on visible surface. If this will cause undue financial burden (i.e. if no one takes my spot) I will purchase it towards the end of the supply shipment.
Thanks

Updated first post with completed, painted splitter photos.
Pretty good for cost of splitter + $18 of paint. Total cost of just over 25% of a painted Fall Line replica. Last edited by 4play; 12-10-2020 at 04:57 PM.. |

Splitter painting DIY:
Materials needed: 120 grit sandpaper Isopropyl alcohol (70%) VHT Metallic Burnt Copper engine bay paint Adhesion Promoter (I grabbed Rustoleum, but any plastic adhesion promoter works) Cardboard to catch overspray Step 1: Using the alcohol as lubricant, wet sand the splitter using 120 grit sand paper. This roughs up the surface and removes any release compounds/waxes on the surface. Step 2: After allowing to dry, apply 2 coats of adhesion promoter - wait 2-3 mins between coats. Step 3: Within 5 minutes of applying the 2nd promoter coat, apply the first light coat of VHT Metallic Burnt Copper engine paint. Apply a 2nd light coat approximately 10 mins later, and a 3rd and final, heavy coat 10 mins after. Step 4: Allow to dry for 2-3 hours before handling. After 24 hours, repeat steps 2-3 on the opposite side of the splitter. Step 5 (optional): Apply VHT Clear Gloss Enamel clear coat to achieve a gloss finish (Steps 1-4 will leave a matte finish). 10 splitters remaining - PM me if interested. Can do a painted version (like the one pictured) for an additional upcharge.

Just wanted to post up, received mine today. Love it. Heavier than it looks and flexes more than I expected but should fit up perfect once mounted. Looking to possibly fit it to my Mode Carbon GTS spoiler otherwise will get a good GTS rep. This is truly a pure "sacrificial" race part. Thanks for getting these made 4play and looking forward to your feedback with this on the track.
Pic of it mocked up. |

Still have 10 of these left for those who were interested.
Not sure if I am allowed to post them in the classifieds, but expect them to be posted there this week if so. |

Hello 4play - After five years, I have finally added M4GTS to my collection, and I could not be happier. It only arrived on Sunday, so I am still on "honeymoon", but already started thinking about improvements. Plus, my driveway entrance reminded me that this car is as low, if not lower than my GT4 (daily driver), thus I am in urgent need of a sacrificial lower front splitter. Do you have any left?
I would like it unpainted, as I will likely do it in black or Frozen Grey - to match my car. |
