If you get 17.5 mpg with the E90 M3 I would guesstimate an improvement to 23 mpg in the F82.

Not sure what conditions you were driving the 320 in -- clearly not highway.

Hi. BMW(.com) lists the numbers below for the 428. I've converted the least fuel efficient end of all those ranges to miles per gallon (6-spd):
BMW (EU) --------------------- Converted ______ US EPA (6-spd)
Urban: 8.9-8.8 [8.3-8.1] ----- 26.4 MPG ______ 22 (off by 4.4)
Extra-urban: 5.3 [5.3-5.2] --- 44.4 MPG ______ 34 (off by 10.4)
Combined: 6.7-6.6 [6.4-6.3] - 35.1 MPG ______ 26 (off by 9.1)

I personally do not consider these approximately equivalent (results for the automatic are similarly different). And I expect the M3/M4 numbers from the EPA will be similarly different from the EU (BMW.com) numbers. Indeed, given that the EPA and EU use very different testing/regulatory schemes to establish these figures it is impossible that they won't be significantly different, with the EPA numbers always "worse."

My f30 335i consistently sees 30+ mpg highway, and that's not even in EcoPro.

Mixed driving average is 28mpg.

These mpg stats are always bullshit. Will you be putting around in 7th gear going 35 mph? Its bs. I beg i would get 17 mpg at best vs 14mpg in s65.

Yes, everyone should adapt their expectations to how they will use this car - any car. I've gotten poor mileage in my myriad cars on the track, around town and when driven to max speed. Usually the low end of EPA numbers for the city driving, and lower still for the other work.

When I've ventured out on the interstates, autoroutes and autobahns I've found thousands of other drivers out there, driving many miles in the 70-90 mph / 130 kph range. Many if not the vast majority report getting the EPA highway numbers. My E46 M3 and C5 Corvette did a few better, my Porsches have not and neither did my 540iT.

But always BS? For you personally apparently, though I would be a little surprised your results don't match those predicted for your use profile? Perhaps not. But the range is real and achievable for most. Many people are going to take their new M3/M4s on highway trips, and I confidently predict the vast majority will get closer to whatever the EPA highway number turns out to be than to 17.

Maybe if you stay out of boost but this car if similar or even more responsive than an n55 will be 17mpg for me.

Yep, exactly. And if you're posting your MPG here via the OBC, it's always about 10% too high. Gotta use a calculator/Fuelly for accuracy.

I drive 90% city in my ActiveHybrid3, and I'm happy when I get 23mpg over a full tank. I'd have to assume an F80 would be 18-20mpg in the same situation.

I used to get 14mpg mixed in my M3.

19.6 MPG Euro Urban
34.1 MPG Euro Highway

These don't actually sound achievable.

My husband could probably achieve those numbers, which is the reason he will never see the keys. I'm buying this to enjoy driving, and I sure as hell will never going to think about the gas spent. At least for the first year, then we go back to the 1,6 euros per liter country, and this baby will only see the inside of my garage.

from here http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=949423
to (if I did the math right) to here:

Innerorts City consumption 100km 12(11.1) liters = 19.6(21)mpg
Außerorts Out of town 100 km 6.9(6.7) liters = 34(35)
Kombiniert Combined 100 km 8.8(8.3) liters = 27(28)

Which, if true, leads me to think the answer to #2 is no.
There, happy?

I guess that is what they promote?

That is what a 428 is getting in real life

but I much prefer the l/100km - thanks :-)

USS GUDGEON (SS-567). The tiny tiny dot on the top of the sail is me. My navigator stayed in to film the boat as we went out for a day of surfaced ops on the Canadian Navy's acoustic range. At Ranch Point, Nanoose Bay, Vancouver Island BC 1980.
