What's wrong with this alignment?
I just switched back from my track wheels to my dailies and saw that my right front tire is shot. That surprised me, before the mods below, it was always the front left that wore out.
Could someone with alignment expertise please advise what I should change? Mods: - Millway camber plates - Front wheels: Nankang AR-1, 275/35ZR19 on APEX EC-7 19x10 - Rear wheels: Nankang AR-1, 305/30ZR19 on APEX EC-7 19x11 After that, I went to a shop to get an alignment. I requested this setup. Front: -3 degrees camber and -0.5 degrees toe. Back: -2 degrees camber and +0.2 degrees toe. I ended up with this: They couldn't get the rear toe into the positives, this was maximum possible. FYI: I have ordered toe-links to achieve that toe-in in my next alignment. Here is a pic of the tires. Imagine that it is taken from above and up equals front. Thus, as you can see, my right front is totally worn on the inside... Front left is the least worn. Weird. The tires have seen three track days and maybe 500km (~310mi) street use. Please advise. |

What pressures are you running with the AR-1? I struggled with wear on my first set moving to them from NT-01. Someone else on here recommended a 31psi pressure hot and its solved a few issues I have with the tires. I'm also getting inside wear on mine with -2.8 camber and 0 toe up front. Going in for another alignment and will reduce the camber to even out the wear.

I don't track my car but instead of running camberplates with a lot of camber on the road i increase caster instead. That gives me less camber when i drive straight but more camber once i turn the wheel. this also gives better braking as the tire lays flatter on the surface, better steering response, better straight line stability and it gives a lifting effect on the outer wheel. Personally i don't understand why not more people look into caster instead of just camber. But that's me . I don't say it's wrong on your car, i just noticed the combination. It could be something to look at. |
