Cracked MPE Repair.
Did someone put a thread up about repairing a cracked MPE? Just noticed mines started to crack and I'm not sure if it's covered under warranty. I bought it from a dealer in London and don't know if it was fitted by BMW. I seem to remember someone putting quite an extensive thread up.

You need to get it re-welded - AND add the additional support brackets as per my linked thread in the 2nd post. I've had no issues since.

Quite clearly the muffler can can't handle either the weight of the pipe and/or the vibrations.

Yes... definitely going to add those brackets. Are those 3/4" tubes? Top and bottom right?

22mm I believe on mine - But anything over 1/2" should do. I believe the key is doing top & bottom, not just one or the other.

Just got mine back from being repaired...
I also got support brackets added to help keep it from cracking again. Picked it up an hour ago. I will install and report back to see if it affects the sound and if any more rattling occurs.

Quick update:
I installed my newly repaired exhaust yesterday and wanted to report back on how it sounds after driving it around. First of all, the rattle is completely gone even at start up. No more high-pitched metallic ringing/rattling sound. Not sure if its just placebo effect, but the exhaust note seems cleaner too. It seems to have reduced that raspy tone on higher revs... tone just seems a lot more solid sound. I like it! Overall, happy i did the repair with brackets. I just hope it holds up without cracking again since ive been told heat cycled Ti are weaker and prone to cracking more.

Did the tone of your exhaust change as well? Mine sounds a little different.... especially at high revs... not as raspy.
