Nah, this is very consistent with Porsche advertising which is often about positioning the cars as an object of childhood/lifelong admiration and aspiration. On brand.

Interesting that these old ass German car manufacturers are now doing collabs with niche instagram fashion labels or artists

L'ART is nothing but a guy who sells cars and some clothing items

Awesome. Ride height seems too high, maybe just the angle, but it will come with adjustability anyways.

One of the few who appreciates what Corvette did with this design. There's a consistency and authenticity about it. Shouldn't be a full departure from American design language.

Looks like the C7 and C8 could be equal generation, different models to me. C7 is really aging well.

I love how both the C7 and C8 look regardless of trim. But, I am a cave man that likes US muscle cars to.

Yup, American muscle still has an authoritative & unique sound.
I am a sucker for a lowered C7 Z06.

Same here. They sold 200,000+ C7’s. Don’t think they give a rip about euro car snobs complaining that it doesn’t look like a 720S. Looking down your nose at the C8 Z06, with it's 9,000 rpm flat plane V8, alright...

Intention was to update engine layout and styling, without losing their base. And they knew a move to mid-engine would bring a new crowd (just like the C7 did). Loyalists + newcomers, more orders than they can handle, good enough.

The execution as compared to what M has done. Chevy’s janitor wouldn’t have effed it up so bad.

Stop it bro! This is not typical Porsche marketing. This is that new age approach similar to what BMW and other manufacturers have taken, so let's be equally as critical.

What car is that though and what are they advertising? Is that a spoof of something?

It's some 968 they've made along with an Instagram/You Tube influencer-designer.

No, this is typical Porsche aspirational stuff; yes, it's not the same ads they did last year, so it's progressed, but it's thematically the same.

It's certainly not comparable to BMW's since:

(1.) This ain't insulting customers with "ok boomer" on social media

(2.) This ain't

This is typical Porsche aspirational marketing. I mean Porsche got Bill & Ted. And Bill Nye Science Guy.

But Porsche is progressing what they've always done:

Under the title "Dreamers. On.", Porsche’s Marketing Communications department is implementing a long-term global attitude campaign.

In its attitude campaign, Porsche dispenses with imposing vehicle images and focuses instead on the topic of life dreams. The communications programme is primarily designed to address new, strategic target groups, support them in achieving their dreams and anchor the brand purpose “Driven by Dreams”. Alongside classic cross-channel communications, the focus is also on so-called enabling measures. For the first time, the sports car manufacturer is bringing together Vogue and Wired as media partners.

"We define ourselves through our brand purpose ‘Driven by Dreams’. This value fits in with our history, is tangible and is at the same time very inspiring for everyone. We are showing through this programme that we actively support our target groups in achieving their dreams. With long-term brand-related communications we create maximum relevance.”
You'll be seeing:

* St. Vincent (singer)
* A guy who builds custom guitars
* A disabilities activist
* An Afghan surfer

Again, BMW got this kid:

If nothing else, Porsche's kid stayed inside the vehicle and kept both hands on the wheel.

Ok! Enough with the non-sequitur stuff. If that's the route you're going to take, then BMW has celebrated hooliganism for decades and so their current marketing falls right in line. So BMW can't have a goofy nerd, but Porsche can have cornrows and tats?!? Got it!

I have very rarely let marketing ever make my decision when it comes to car things. In fact, I never had it happen. My father did ask me initially before I got my M4, why I didn't choose the Lexus RC-F and I think my answer was, the RC-F wasn't interesting to me but my father has a preference for Japanese imports compared to my habits with German.

Most of the time when I see TV ads for cars, I am usually rolling my eyes at the ads because it is silly but personally, BMW made a few obvious mistakes this time on social media especially (the boomer comment is about as dumb as you can do tbh). You cannot really say Porsche or Benz ever does that because they don't need to. Even Audi has been positioning themselves now as "the future" with EVs and all that. Meanwhile, BMW is doing... whatever they are doing.

I am more disappointed with BMW then anything now a days.
