LOC gain settings?

Just installed a sub and amp using the Technic PNP add-a-sub harness with LOC150i in my 2020 M4 with the HK audio system.

https://technicpnp.com/product/logic...harness-wlocx/

Just wondering if someone has already figured out the optimal gain settings for the LOC, which is actually a wavetech link2.

https://www.wavtech-usa.com/link2

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help!!

For the loc you want to set the gains so that the clip led light isn’t on. Basically play a zero db 50hz test tone via a usb thumb drive at the maximum volume level you are likely to use on idrive. On the loc up the gains until you see clip led and then back it off just to the point where the clip light goes off. Don’t run for too long at this volume as your underseat woofers will be getting a hammering.

0 db files are found here https://www.realmofexcursion.com/downloads.htm . The reason for using a 0 db gain file is it is equal to the maximum bass levels you’ll find in recordings.

Then for your subwoofer amp once you have to loc gains are set correctly you’d set amp gains using a multimeter based on the voltage seen at its speaker terminals. The two variables here is the rated power of your amp for the ohms load of your subwoofer.
If your amp is more powerful than your sub you can set the amplifier gain to a level that doesn’t exceed the maximum power the sub can take.

Thanks NealfromNZ !!

I was hoping that someone has already gone through this for the wavetech 2 and could just tell me where to set it

Not how that works lol

Go through the correct process so you actually learn something, and so it's taylored for your individual setup and equipment. No two amps are identical, so the correct settings for one may not match another.

I get that all amps and set ups are different after the LOC, but shouldn't everything be the same up to that point? So then shouldn't the LOC gain setting be the same for every set up? That is what I am asking about.

Thanks!!
