With the huge success of the M-Performance cosmetic and performance catalog, it was only a matter of time until they started offering their own coilover suspension. I am sure this OEM alternative to lowering the M3/M4 will be a huge success as well. It looks like BMW finally noticed how many enthusiasts are modifying their suspensions and decided to tap into that as well.

Is an M-Performance coilover a good/viable alternative in the already crowded coilover space? Lets hear your thoughts!

I'm also curious as to what other OEM suspension upgrades this platform may hold for the future.

I know that they made this available for the M2 which is mind blowing why BMW did NOT offer this option on the F8x's but they do it in the M2.... But my main question is, are the coilover also available for the f8x ?

Not that it really matters any more since we all got our cars and can't add it to the built.

Its basically just a spring kit, but right from BMW. I wonder how they will handle. Still not a replacement for a high quality true coilover system like JRZ or Ohlins.

It's definitely a height adjustable kit; not just springs. Confirmed from Jason who is at SEMA now; 5mm - 25mm drop. The M4 that is at SEMA has it set to a 20mm drop.

Still waiting on other info. For example... is it just a sleeve and spring kit? Will it be an entire strut and spring replacement like a true aftermarket coilover system? If it is a replacement, will there be an EDC version?

This is great news, pending price obviously. Hopefully it'll be sub 2000, and slot in right where bilstein PSS and KW variant 1 pricing would be. If its another HAS / Dinan style height adjustable sleeve kit, I pass.

Why won't they have support for EDC? That's like selling ice cream cones without ice cream at an ice cream parlor :P

Thanks. I read that on the SEMA post just now. This will have it's plus and minus's.

Plus sides:
This validates the OEM struts having the capability to handle up to a 25mm drop. It also leaves the cost impact to be "relatively" small; at least compared to a full coilover swap. Another plus is that it will have some sort of factory warranty (although I'm not sure if wear and tear of struts are covered under warranty). Which leads to the minus side of things...

Minus sides:
If wear and tear of struts aren't covered under warranty, then what is the difference between going with this and KW HAS or Dinan?

The post from Jason is open to interpretation. But the way I read it, it seems the "coil-overs" are suitable for EDC only rather than the other way around.

of course these will work for both passive and adaptive suspension cars... just like all the other spring kits. why would bmw design this if it weren't suitable for both?

please find out if these springs are linear or progressive. If would be perfect if these were height adjustable and linear springs at the same time.. IMO a better version of the KW HAS. Should be reasonably priced.. I'll definitely be waiting now for more info to come out on these.

I wouldn't go as far as saying this validates the OEM strut capabilities quite yet, but excellent observation.. you make a great point. The factory warranty might be bullshit though as dealerships will try to deny anything being wrong with your struts if indeed something is up.
