Yeah, insanely loud.

Gonna get some video clips on the dyno tomorrow now that everything has been installed

I'll be sure to put the camera further away and utilize zoom to avoid the mic distortion

I have stock downpipes with the AA and MPE. Not that loud. It’s actually pretty civil.

Sounds frickin amazing.

Initially it reminded me of a Diesel engine at idle. But then you revved/punched it and it came alive! I know this is the best option but I still can't come to grips with cutting my factory mpe!

You are not cutting the MPE. You will be cutting the connecting pipe which is not titanium. What’s the big deal? It just joins with
Exhaust Clamps.

Im sure you don't believe I thought it would require literally cutting the Titanium silencer box. What exhaust mod involves cutting that?

Although I didn't explicitly explain, I meant "cutting" the pipes connecting to the box. The concern is it's still under warranty. If I cut any part of it or modify it, I'll lose that. That's the big deal.

A lot of folks on here assume that the complete exhaust along with the connecting pipes is made of titanium. I assumed you thought the same. My bad. You didn't mention anything related to warranty in your post so wasn't sure why you would hesitate unless you we concerned about hacking into a titanium pipe which it isn't so figured I should clarify that. Anyways, was just trying to help.

Well now I feel like an ass. Didn't mean to be condescending in my follow up post. Point well made.

I still want it, but I might end up having to get fabspeed since it doesn't involve cutting.

No worries. I considered fabspeed but passed on it for 2 reasons:

1. The fitment where it bolts to the down pipes is slightly off. You have to tug and pull at the down pipes and then tighten the bolts to make it line up. The flange holes for the fabspeed down pipes don't perfectly line up with the flange for the down pipes. For something that costs as much I expect perfect fitment. The heat shields have to be bent out if the way as well.

2. The second reason was the deal breaker. The fabspeed midpipe creates the lowest point in the car. The way it bends it creates a new low point which is likely to scrape if your car is lowered.

Wow. That is a game changer. I'll stick with my stock mpe for now I guess

This was just my experience. I know others who didnt have the same experience after I wrote Fabspeed about it (other than the heatshield which is an easy 2 second fix).

This guy has the Fabspeed midpipe paired to an Akra exhaust and his car is bagged:

Hey Justin, I really liked the second video. I have a question here.

I would like to change my mid pipe and down pipes with anything other than stock but i definetly dont want this burble because that is what i hear/see in wannabee sport cars. so I don't want car to sound like an angry overtuned/modded a3 or similiar.

In the second video how did you turn off pat pat pat sound aka the angry over modded little car sound? right now I have an mpe and the rest is stock.

I am really bored with this car's sound issue I think the best is to get e46 or e92 until i get a f458

Thanks for the potential answers

If you're bored and think there's an issue, go equal length like I did. Check out the thread, you won't be disappointed

No discredit to AA mid - it's the best sounding version of the stock type tone. But equalized length is the future of exhausts for this platform.

Thank you. I have checked the topic again but could not find what you mean. Can you ecplain a bit more?

But like i said I definetly dont want pat pat pat noise.

The pat pat pat noise is from the ECU file and only in sport/sport+ modes. If you have a non-competition file, you will not have this pat pat pat noise.

I would look into custom mid-pipes that actually equalize the length of both banks, the sound is completely different and actually gets rid of that monotoned/buzzy nature of the exhaust.

@Kilabyte are you in UK? I am planning to buy a aa mid pipe. let me know

@spool-twice thank you for your answer. Like you and @ntg43 said equal length seems like the solution. But we need a commercialized product which will wipe out all the exhausts in the market.

people ask revs from me in the traffic and i ask for revs from e92, e46 m3 people. I hope someone from bmw is reading this.

Follow the equal length thread. My car’s going in for development of a production level, equalized length, dual exit, valved system in early January. If all goes well, something should be available soon. No longer will we need to make excuses for this car’s exhaust sound. Can’t wait to see the values of every other exhaust tank. I’ll post all future updates there.
