BM3 CS Map
Hi,
Strongly considering a BM3 license for the CS map available to flash on my F80 Competition. I've read a few posts however (on the FB group mostly) with folks getting their cars on the dyne and actually making less power with the CS map than standard competition software. Has anyone on here independently verified the gains made by the CS and CS+ maps? Specifically what gains are available over and above standard ZCP software? Obviously there is no point in losing my warranty for nothing. If no independent dyno results are available has anyone at least dragied or Vboxed a car with just a CS map, if so Id like to see the results? Not interested in the stage 1 or stage 2 maps at the moment. Keen to retain as closely as possible the responsiveness and top end of the stock map. Thanks. |

Can you please share links to those posts claiming CS map making less power than ZCP?

Such posts make me guess that it's not the exact same factory CS map but somewhat re-engineered (or reverse engineered) or imitation that doesn't guarantee perfect matching in performance and reliability. I wish BMW offered a retrofit CS tuning for base/ZCP cars.

I understand it actually needs to be reverse engineered because of the FSC lock on the DME, that's not my issue at all. Just would like some reassurance in the way of independent Dyno or better yet dragy/vbox testing on the bm3 CS maps to prove they have actual gains over stock competition software. I've seen Dyno graphs from HCP direct but no independent results.

The CS makes 10 CHP more than a ZCP (454 CHP vs. 444 CHP). The CS power advantage is in the middle of the power band (i.e., larger CHP delta), not necessarily at peak power.

Well, going from 444 to 453hp, you may see a .02 difference on draggy. The OTS GTS map may be a little better.

The CS does have a measurable power advantage over the ZCP. In Euro magazine testing, the ZCP does 100-200 kph in ~9.3 sec. whereas the CS does it in ~8.7 sec. The CS definitely has more useable area under the power curve even though its peak power is only 10 CHP higher.

That's why I'm asking. I'm in that group and haven't seen anything like what you are describing. Please share a link to one od those posts. On the same day/same car/same gas/same dyno, I do not believe ZCP map will make more power than the CS map.

My first hand experience with stock zcp tune versus CS tune.
I was at the track. First two sessions I was running consistent times on ZCP. For third session I loaded the CS map. I shaved 2 seconds. CS map feels faster |

My car is non ZCP , and I've only run the old CS map, which had a bit more top end than the plain CS map. Anyways, here are my vbox runs:
Stock: 12.32@117.4 with a 2.13 60ft CS+: 11.99@121.3 with a 2.15 60ft You can tell from 3500rpm upwards there is more power. |
