yeah. i think life will be difficult for this guy going forward. sounds like he has asbergers, though I'm not sure that would be grounds for any NCR defence. Anyway, I am actually going away again right away (Trial restarts monday for another 5 weeks. ugggghhhhh) so my return is only temporary for now at least we finally have actual spring here.

How's ruby? I have a growing sick ward here and we are binge watching old top gear. The kids keep complaining because the men speak funnily.

Everything is absolutely well here. My mom is still alive which means I'm still not a murderer. Our youngest has a fever of almost 40C today and we've been watching the telly for once. I don't know who's genes he has when it is common knowledge how brave I am with temps three degrees less. How's your reading saga going? I think we've really turned a corner with L here but we've been this far once before so I'm not exactly breathing was on that either.

Now we just need to let the kids know that people like him do walk among us and that bad things do happen and then bad people cover them up for years.
I feel better...

Ha!
In February of 1998 my former Finnish teacher and the holder of the title scariest woman on earth said that a magazine here which can only be described as the grammar nazis bible had voted the word mom as the most beautiful word in our language. Their main arguments were that that is the word most people say as their first one and the bond between a mother and a child elevates women to the glory they rightfully deserve. The worst thing about dyslexia is that I actually still remember all the lectures that scary woman gave us word to word because I have to rely on my memory so much. I had suppressed that memory until this morning when an other patient joined our sick ward. I'm not exactly known as the bravest person ever to have a cold, but I do have to admit that I was never as cleaver as my eldest is. "mom. I'm going to have to text you from now on. My throat is so sore I am almost ready to go towards the light." That came around two am. I read it, and apparently I wasn't sympathetic enough, so the next text was sent to me while she was sitting next to my bed. The good and caring person I am decided at that point that my mildly dramatic kid would benefit from sleeping, so I put my phone on silent and told the kid to go to bed. After it came apparent that I know how to silence a phone, the damn puppy had texted the grandparents and told them that death is nearing and a bell is needed so adults can be properly informed when any assistance is needed. At 5.30 am the motherinlaw was delivering the most annoying bell ever produced to our home so the not at all over the top kid can communicate the needs of the dying. At six am, at my usual time for coffee and a run, I found about a hundred post it notes from my coffee maker, each of them listed my failures as a sympathy and care giver. Apparently the advice of sleeping (and I checked the throat, it was mildly red and the kid has not reached the body temperature usually seen as a mild fever even) was not good enough. Anyway.I was extremely sympathetic while I used my hammer to fix the fucking bell and while I was murdering the sound machine from hell, I remembered the scary teacher I had and her words. I've long known the two biggest mistakes I've made as a parent were teaching them to talk and teaching them to walk. Wah always makes fun of me when I'm sick because I might be mildly dramatic then. I'm happy to inform you all that I will never whine to you again when I face certain death a cold is, I have been properly schooled now at the art of whining and drama and my skills pale next to the generation I've raised. And don't worry people, the mildly dramatic child negotiated a permission to text to me again after the bell fiasco. I'm receiving approximately 20 texts per hour which include ideas for the eulogy and the last will and sometimes a request for an other glass of milk. After all my whining I have to admit that I feel like I deserve my fate. At least my dogs still love me.

Okay, I was lying above. This cold actually will kill me too. I already hit 36.1 (it's such a high temperature to a human to have, I couldn't even translate it to your stupid system) c, and the kiddo who was very feisty last night and all morning with all the dying is crying under the blankets now. I'll go join her now.
Goodbye cruel world!

I know you all are dying for an update so I'll try to write this from my death bed.
I was greeted in the morning by a healthy again firstborn holding a piece of paper and a pen. "we better write down your wishes for your funerals now. I'm being as supportive as you were with me"

I took the tiny kid to get his blood work done since he is still running a fever. "your son is running a high fever (no fucking shit Sherlock!), his note was very helpful to diagnose him. He lists in it that he has a sore throat and some muscle pain, a head ache, back pain, and he doesn't like ice cream now. A great idea to let the kid list his worries for a day before coming in. Your son has a virus based cold, and as of now, according to his blood results we have no worries. Since your son looks like he is doing about 8 times better than you are, we should do tests on you. I have seen corpses that look more healthy and I'm afraid I have to ask if you're driving home since I don't think you can. " I think that went well. I had to explain to him that I'm not driving because I can't move my eyes without excruciating pain and that I'm pretty sure I couldn't walk from the parking lot to the hospital (100 yards max) without a cardiac arrest so we came in a cab. I told him I've had worse colds, and he said I was clearly running a very high fever and I had breathing difficulties. I told him that on his scale he won't think I have a fever even. He didn't believe me and measured. "36.2 (around 97f). I did not expect that. How about your breathing? You sound like a chain smoker on a run" "I'm enjoying my last breath." I've landed my ass in an ICU for a laryngitis once. All other patients were vegetables, in comas due to strokes. I think it's safe to say manflu got nothing on me.
