Question M4 Euro Delivery - Told you can't initially

I've spoken with two ED reps from South Bay BMW here in so-cal, and I have conflicting information. I was told originally I could just order an M4 and do ED right off the bat (Maybe like June?), but I spoke with another last week that told me that BMW typically doesn't allow you to take ED of the new M4 (or the M235i I was looking at too in case) for initial production run. He told me it wouldn't be until next Sept I could do ED on an M4.

Does anyone know for sure on this topic? I'm not going to wait a whole year to take ED, let alone more to get it back in the states. My E92 M3 lease is up end of Feb 2014. If I can't have it earlier, I'm going with a C7 vette.

Nobody knows anything yet, bmw has not told us dealers anything. With that being said I would have to disagree. I don't see why Ed would not be available at the start?? Matter of fact I am planning on doing ED myself as soon as the car is released if I can swing it and David is going on ED as well for his m3 either you misunderstood what your CA was saying or they are confused?? As soon as we hear anything we will post it up ASAP

One of them said it very matter-of-factly that the 'first production run" is not available for ED. I didn't believe him, as no one has ever told me that before. That's why I'm here. I'd really like to get an M4 beginning of next summer.

Also, do you think there's going to be any wiggle room on pricing? I'm aiming to do a corporate lease.

^^I can't say what the pricing will be it will all depend on the allocations and how many each dealer gets and also ED allocation if they come out US allocations.

If dealers have to take ED orders out of their US allocations then its going to be darn near impossible to find one for less then ED MSRP matter of fact most dealers will either not even do ED or they will mark up well over ED MSRP for those who want to do ED. Not all dealers but I would think it would be pretty common especially out here in SoCal

If dealers only get say 1-2 allocations a month then US prices will be minimum MSRP and most dealers will mark them well over MSRP. It will play out like the 1M when it came out. Supply and Demand.

The best advice I can give you which I have stated a few other times in other threads is get on a list, put a deposit down, and get some sort of written confirmation if you want to get one of the first few f8xM when they come out otherwise unless you pay through the roof or you have a really good connection you most likely will struggle to get one that early in the game.

This is the way it's been on the E46 & E92 launches. Also, no special order colors for a few months.

Either way once BMW releases everything we will make sure to post it up. As of now though there is no known info on ED.

DAvid is in Indonesia right now. I have a text into him to see if he has any insight to shed on this for us. He is after all the ED and US sales expert.

This wasn't the case for the F10 M5. There was a large group (24) of US buyers who got together an all picked up their cars at the Welt. Hopefully will hold true for the F80.
