You will certainly benefit from upgrading the stock heat exchanger, it would be a noticeable difference, at least that was the case for me. I do have upgraded intakes as well. I am already on the list to get the top-mounted cooler from Wagner.

Installed the wagner top-mounted cooler, couple of observations:

1) The coolant temperature is about 15F or so lower.
2) Car seems to be more responsive, more hp/tq?, a dyno run coming up.
3) The top right rubs very slightly against the hood, nothing a set of pliers cannot fix.

Extremely happy so far.

Care to elaborate on the fitment issue you mentioned - a pic would be great. Fitment issues like what you mentioned, however small, on anything other than a full blown track car could be a non-starter for many (myself included)...

This is the area of the minor rubbing (it has already been addressed).

Btw on a separate note, the forge's top-mounted cooler rubs significantly more, a friend experienced that, I will let him comment on that .

Yes Forged cooler rubbed a tiny bit more than the wagner. Ive already had BPC massage it up a little bit so the wagner shouldn't be a problem with mine. It would only rub under wot not during normal driving. Now it doesn't hit at all. I think its only a problem for coolers larger than 61% (CSF). Forge Charge Cooler is (71% larger) and rubbed under WOT(with Kratos turbos. Wagner is 114% larger so we will see how it fits.

Thanks for the pic.. But addressed how? By the use of the felt tape you installed on your hood or by re-adjusting/re-installing the charge cooler to sit better in the engine compartment? Considering the engine moves constantly under load, especially under the heavy load of more spirited driving and track conditions, this minor fitment issue could possibly become a more long term issue other than some paint being scraped off under the hood.

The picture with the felt tape was intended to just show where it rubs, this issue was addressed by bending the bottom underside part of the hood a bit. The top-mounted cooler cannot be repositioned, at least that was not my experience that you could.

FYI PI adds another inch of height. Get the cutting tools out.

so much for RND with these fitment issues. I have trouble buying into these manufacturers testing these over any kind of extended period of time and not realizing they are rubbing. Its not as if they couldn't be sloped down in that area to clear the hood.

Makes you wonder how they produced their data points for marketing. If it was only bench tested, it's pretty much no data at all and first has to be real world tested. Excited to see first performance related feedback.

Cutting the hood is an absolute nono for me.

You guys forgetting that that guy said his has port injection. So that adds height to the cooler. Thats why he had to cut up his hood.

Even without PI you would have to bend the framing of the hood to ensure rubless fit. Not the route I would wanna go.

I definitely agree. I think maybe they tested the fit on a car with the stock J pipe. I have a Max PSI J pipe. I noticed rubbing on my Forge cooler after that was installed.

I dont mind trimming the inside of my stock hood but the real question will be if its going to hit when i get the GTS hood put on...

No rubbing yet! After a nice long spirited drive i popped the hood and slapped my hand on the top of the cooler and it was nice and cold!

Keep in mind that swapping the AWIC will 100% never be necessary for normal driving. Complaining that track-level parts aren’t plug and play, (especially with various other aftermarket parts like j-pipes and PI that change the geometry) is just stupid.

Sure, they should be forthcoming about it, but that’s another complaint.

Also seeing that people saying they have fitment issues also have aftermarket charge pipes. I'm not defending the product but that's another variable.
