I’ll report back. I’m telling all my people that they/we need to use Windows for now, as per DZenno. This is just for the closed-beta phase of OBD unlock and offline flash testing.

BuLoOoSki , its well known for tech junkies that BM3 is the only one or one of very few that use UDS flashing protocol /ENET so yeah they are ahead

Also, it seems that the automation you described, which unfortunately isn't visible to non-users, is a very great benefit. Maybe to experience the game changer platform one would have to pay to play, in another life.

I've asked Maximus in the past to offer a restricted paying version, but only one license exists, all or none.

Just talked to DZenno again about this.

We really need to be using a windows laptop and/or Mac w/windows either in BootCamp or a Windows Virtual Machine during the closed-beta testing phase. This isn’t because OSX doesn’t work or that the OBD Agent WiFi device wouldn’t work either, this is for testing continuity and the ability to use E-SYS, should the need arise, which only runs on Windows.

Agreed, for troubleshooting purposes (should that arise during the beta testing) you need to be on Windows. But I just meant to clarify that even though the updated Android and iOS apps haven't been released yet since this thing is still in "beta testing", you can still unlock your DME and benefit from all the new features using your phone and not necessarily be restricted to a laptop.

Forgive my ignorance I've read through everything and I'm pretty certain of my answer but thought I'd ask it for ease just for confirmation;

I have a standard 2016 F80 M3.

I buy a ENET Cable + Bootmod3 licence. I then contact Bootmod and say hi, I'm UK based need a map for 97 - 99 RON

I then get a map which I flash on, I also have the ability to flash / update on the GTS DCT / TCU updates etc.

I plug in the ENET Cable follow instructions and update / flash.

Is it literally as simple as that?

$595 to me would be worth it to satisfy my curiosity and get to play around with some of these features. You don't even have to flash as I know you are not interested in more power. But there are other features offered that you can make use of while still satisfying your curiosity to try and see BM3 in action

PTF isn’t recommending people use anything but windows for the the closed beta-test for the reasons I stated above. While you can still “unlock your DME and benefit from all the new features” using your phone, that isn’t what is being recommended at this point.

Obviously, this will change in the near future, once the beta is finished.

I got my car bench unlocked before OBD feature. I wonder if using this feature, can I go back and forth to the stock locked vs unlocked map?

Yeah buddy I am glad I waited. Just put my order in for the beta version...eager to hear next steps! My car is a few hundred miles away getting some cosmetics done so I cant wait till I get her back and load the tune!!

I just got a new license (never had one before) and tried to add my vehicle using the license sent over email but I get an error on the website (yes the agent is running in the background). Do you need to have the DME unlocked before activating license? (I'm not part of the closed beta yet, perhaps this is the issue)

Any help is appreciated.

So I'm clear the BM3 software allows you access to a OTS stage 1 or 2 tune along with ability to custom tune and BMW factory CS GTS maps?

This is so fantastic...I also am glad I waited. Heck you can get downpipes and the BM3 for less than the price other vendors are charging for just their flash.

No point in doing power mods in the rainy Seattle winter, but can't wait for the weather to warm up and dry out!! This will definitely be my first spring mod.

Yes, OTS Map of your choice, Free CS & GTS maps as well. Including GTS DCT Flash (Free).

I think I was able to apply the GTS DCT Flash tune today, via my obd2 port, on my virgin ECU.

Shifts seem a bit smoother? I dunno.

Hoping to hear back from PTF tomorrow about being included in the beta for ECU flashing.

If I have downpipes and I flash it back to stock, would the car throw CEL? Because if I have to take my car to service for whatever reason and have to throw it back to stock, I don’t want the CEL to pop while they have the car.
Or is there a map that can prevent the CEL while in stock mode?
