because the door contour should keep going and the rear fenders should have a concave shape not a covex shape. that why I'm fixing mine.

I'm 56 - all kids are grown. I simple liked the way the M3 looked. And, coming from an M2, I didn't like the large, heavy doors and the tight squeeze when I did need to access the back seat. The M3 was perfect for me. But, I can understand the appeal of a coupe for some.

Yep, it just flat looks better - it's much more aggressive. And like you said, the short doors are much nicer to deal with. I also like the framed windows - less jiggle when closing doors with windows half way down.

Finally, I've always preferred the "tucked in" feeling when driving a sedan - the B-pillar/short door really makes the car wrap around you. I always feel like I'm on display in a coupe, as the door/window extend past my seating position considerably.

But I'm a sedan guy at heart - I preferred the E36 M3 sedan, the E90 M3 sedan and now the F80 M3 sedan.

'Course, nothing wrong with a sexy coupe. The M4 is stunning as are the E92 M3 and E46 M3 (timeless beauty).

If I wanted a 2 door I would get an M2 or better yet an E46 M3.

Second, the M4 works perfectly fine with a family. I have two kids, now 4 and 7. The rear seats in the M4 are far from useless. I've been driving coupes for the last 17 years and never had a problem hauling the family around, even when they were babies.

I have to disagree. I have a 6 month old and a 3 year old and my coupes are a pain in the ass to get them both loaded up.

The M3 is infinitely easier to get two young kids in to.

Plus the M3s look way better

I guess it all depends on individual experiences. We found it to be actually easier to manage young kids in my E92 and F82 coupes than it was in my wife's 4-door Audi S4. The big coupe doors made it super easy to snap the baby carrying shell in it's holder. And when they became older, it was much easier to install and strap them into their seats in the coupes, where we could actually step into the rear quarters to position them and tie them up. In the 4-door, we had to bend over our back and work at arms length to put them in thei seats and strap them up.

As they are getting older, and can get in/out and strap themeselves up, I do see the appeal of a 4-door. But it is still quite manageable with a coupe.

My lower back would not agree. Plus I am 6'3". Absolutely hated trying to get them in the back of the 2 door golf. Never again.

I’ve had both, I like the M3 looks overall better, but hate the M3 creaks and squeaks from the door seals.

I had both as well. 15 M4, 18 M3.

M4 is more photogenic due to its longer proportions, coupes are generally more photogenic. A pain in the rear when you park. The doors are very long and you don't have a lot of room to move if douchebags decides to park near you and don't take the extra 30 seconds to repair properly. In person, F82/F83 would look slightly stretched. It also doesn't squeak as much due to the door seals where almost all of the noise in these cars come from.

M3 looks better in person, photos/videos on Instagram would make the car looks a bit stubby from some angles but I love the M3 more simply because of the 4 doors. The F80 does squeak a bit more because of the door seals but that honestly from a car to car basis. I haven't had that problem yet in mine. I just prefer the F80 M3. Because... it's a M3.

If you care though, yes BMW produces more M4 F82 in comparison to the M3 F80. Think it's like a 3/2 to 1 ratio.

I thought it was the opposite? They produce many more M4s compared to M3s? I could be wrong.

Your correct. We have gone over this so many times I didn't feel like correcting anyone again.

I think it's something like 3-1 M4-M3

I had a hard time deciding between the m3 vs m4 during my leasing process. There is no doubt in my mind that the m4 with zcp looks much better than the m3 with or without zcp. I like the m3 because it is more practical and family friendly. Plus the m3 is cheaper and a lot less to lease due to better residual. Because of all these reasons, the m3 is the logical choice. In the end, I still decided to go with the m4 because I am just not a logical person. lol
