Question Different Tire Options

Anyone try a different tire from the PSS in stock 19" spec?

I have about 4200 miles on my PSS, but I think I may have a slow leak in my RR. I might plug it and just replace my PSS now and reinstall in 2yrs when it's time to turn in.

Interested in learning anyone's feedback on the following:
Conti DWs
Potenza S-04
Hankook Ventus

For the price of the above, I could get 2 sets for nearly the price of 1 set of the PSS.

Conti - Noisy
S04 - Heavy
hankook - Not sure if even round.

Are you speaking from experience?
The tires noted seem pretty popular with the E9x M crowd and earlier

I had the DWS (the all-season version of the DW) on my 335xi, and they were decent other than the fronts wore out after about 12K miles. Then again, I drove it rather spirited and it was AWD of course.

The DW is a really good tire for the price, but won't be as sticky as the PSSs. I didn't think the DWS were noisy, but they are a bit louder than the Michelins. Michelin knows how to make quiet tires. The PSS are a bargain for what they are.

The Hankooks will disappoint you if performance matters... no where near the grip or responsiveness of the PSS.

Generally speaking (and based on a multitude of reviews and my own personal experience), you cannot get a better street performance tire than the PSS when looking at grip, responsiveness, comfort, noise. They are not cheap but that is because they are, IMO, the very best available. Now, for track use....

I bought Hankooks for my first E92 M3 because they were cheap... sold them shortly thereafter and bought Michelins. It changed the experience of the car in a meaningful way and I regretted it. There is one thing I won't skimp on and that is tires. If cost matters the most, then ignore everything I wrote and pick up the cheapest set because they are all decent enough

You bought a very capable handling M with 430WHP and 418Wlb tq. Don't cheap out on the most crucial part on the car = tires. PSS is the best street summer tires money can buy. Do your research and you will realize why they're rated so high.

Replace the 2 rear and move on.

Side note, never buy all-season anything for a sport car. Summer for temps above 45 and winter for temps below 45.

I hear you guys, I've just been under a black cloud as of late when it comes to tires...

It started this past winter when one of my Pirelli WinterSottos took on some shrapnel and I could not get a replacement, in part due to my aesthetics vs function 255/35/19 size. Then last week I found a nail in my wife's 20" X5 LR tire. Luckily I can plug it. And now this one...

This current cluster just got me thinking ahead and trying to plan accordingly with lease turn in and tire replacement cycles

Had conti DW on my ISF. We're fine at first but after a few thousand miles got noisy.

S04 are heavy from reading specs.

My tire guy won't even install Hankooks.

For an all around / commuter tire, probably true. From a dry grip standpoint, I'd be interested in the AD08, ZII, RE11 type of tire instead

I wanted to do RE11 but I was too worried about rain.

They are fine in the rain unless they are really worn in my experience.

So far so good...PSS doesn't seem to be leaking

Some more good news...just remembered when I replaced my wife's X5 Dunlops with Conti DWS from TireRack, they included road hazard protection. Read the fine print and Continental Brand tires are not to be repaired and I'm getting a free replacement with shipping. Just need to pay for m/b. And I was just about to plug it myself

I've never had a better tire then the MPSS and I've tried them all. I'm going to 265/30 and 295/30 with my new wheels.
